i finally saw a hilux 4x4 in toyota cabanatuan. it is awesome!! definitely looks better than the d-max 4x4. better than the ford sportrac IMO. almost as large as the f-150. 3.0 crdi turbo intercooler (163ps/343nm). 255/70r15 wheels. it is the best looking pick-up so far IMO. however, for 1.25M-1.305M, it lacks abs, ebd, front passenger airbag and alarm. howcome? cost cutting? the hilux 4x2 is a dissapointment IMO. 2.5 crdi turbo. no intercooler (102ps only/200nm only). 205/70 r14 wheels. too small for my taste. no abs, no ebd, driver airbag only, no alarm. that is for 928k. the d-max 4x2 with 3.0 turbo intercooler (130ps/285nm), 245/70 r16, with abs, ebd, dual airbags and alarm at 940k is a better value. what do u think guys?

The DMAX 4x2 also rides on the same high-rider chassis as the DMAX 4x4.

    I second your opinion Joshua!

Just lately, I find myself to be surprised by a lot of new vehicles coming out. I can't wait to see other companies' line of pick-up such as Mitsubishi, Mazda or Nissan. I think their pick-ups are due to be redesigned. I've already seen the new Nissan frontier.

But honestly, with the new line-up that Mitsubishi has come up so far such as the Grandis and the new Galant (which were incredibly good improvement), I would like to see how their pick-up would look. Their design is due for another look. Usually they redesign after 5 years.

I also wonder if the claim that toyota has, saying that the International platform for different vehicles was to produce affordable vehicles, is actually right or true. The way I see it, the international platform is used to increase their profit afterall, and not to make affordable vehicles.

Going back to DMAX and HILUX, for the 4X2, the DMAX has the edge in my opinion. While the 4X4 might have to go either of the two.

    Hi Joshua,
Sorry if my statement was incomplete. I really meant - saw ONLINE- by review. I have never seen it yet on the road but I already saw(on the road) the NEW PATHFINDER which I figured has the same front design with the NEW FRONTIER.

This is the one I saw ONLINE with the picture below. If you want to see more pictures, click on this link:

galing ako toyota makati kanina... nakita ko na rin yung hilux and naka display na sa showroom nila ang 4x4 at 4x2 ..

wala ngang ABS/EBD ang 4x4 .. hindi din leather ang seatcover na 4x4 na 1.3M

    saan nakalagay ang computer box?

sa dmax kasi, nasa ilalim ng driver's seat

    Wow...D-max met its match!!!

I'd say the Hi-Lux is better...4 simple different things I noticed in the hi-lux vs the d-max:

    1) Wheel rim of hi-lux is 15" - dmax is 16"
    2) Rear middle-seat belt was 2-point sa hi-lux - 3-point sa dmax
    3) Alarm equipped ang keyless entry ng hi-lux - dmax is just keyless entry.
    4) Hi-lux engine is CRDi - non-CRDi yata and dmax.

we already have a thread for the hi-lux.

you forgot to mention the weakness of the hi-lux. the lack of abs, ebd & passenger airbags - as compared to the d-max.

cons naman ng dmax is the computer chip is stash under the driver's seat, patay na kung i-river crossing ito.

isn't the d-max priced a little higher than the hi-lux? i guess the price difference went to the abs and passenger airbags of the d-max.

imo, in terms of safety mas preferable pa rin ang d-max. but that's just me

Hilux engine is way beyond the DMAX. It has a 3.0L Diesel, 4 cylinder, 16 valve, DOHC Variable Nozzle Turbo w/ Intercooler, Direct Injection Common Rail Engine (D-4D). I have checked the price and its 85K lower than the price of DMAX!!! Interior and exterior are also way beyond the old hilux and the current dmax. =)

was able to drive the HiLux kanina sa Toyota Makati. Yung engine nya mas tahimik kaysa sa ibang diesel engine.
