Yan na nga siguro yung drawback ng 3.0 engine sa hiace same with the hilux 3.0 mt, their best is around 11 kpl lang considering mas magaan ang pickup. But on the positive side, much better power delivery compare to 2.5 hiace. Just finish the break-in period and see if the economy will improve.

April 7th, 2016 10:16 AM #1608I had my 25k km PMS and it cost me about 20 pesos below 4600. I am loving the PMS cost of my SG. Also requested to change the fuel filter even if the SA told me that it will be replaced on its 45k kms.
I am going to have it checked in the dealership because it is producing a loud howling noise. I am not sure if it's the wheel bearing, brakes or those damn AT tires. One thing for sure, once those AT tires get worn out, I am not going to replace it with AT tires again. Sure they are nice to look at but they are so damn noisy. HT tires for me, that's for sure.
For the rattling sliding door, driver side, I have remedied it by putting a rubber that came from the rubber matting of my pickup. I still want it to get fixed though, since once that rubber gets thin from constant opening and closing of the door, it will rattle again.
So far those are the only issues with my SG.
We went on a family trip to Vigan before Holy Week and as usual, Hiace all around but I am seeing a lot of NV350 too. Those Hiace drivers are crazy. I was the one who drove. We were 3 on the road, not a convoy, a Commuter, GL and me. I was following their speed but they love to overtake recklessly. A Montero was behind me and when he saw an opportunity, he overtook me. But he really had a hard time overtaking the other 2. I didn't wanna go beyond 100 kph since my family was with me but each time there was a traffic or road works and caught up with them, the Montero was still behind the 2. Also had my share of run with an FJ Cruiser. My SG never had problems even on that hilly winding road I think in Santa, Ilocos Sur. But when the road became straight, bye bye to me considering I only drive around 100 to 110 kph.hehe
It's nice to see that even with the price increase of the Hiace, there are still a lot of brand new units on the road from the Commuter all the way up to the SG leather variants and some LXV. For sure the new owners are loving that stronger engine rating. A 102 hp rating can accelerate effortlessly even with full load, how much more that 130 hp.

April 8th, 2016 02:45 PM #1610Went to the dealer today to have that ridiculously deafening, dizzying, mind boggling deep howling/growling sound, that my SG was producing lately which my suspect was due to the AT tires, checked. I couldn't bear it anymore.
They told me that they will do a road test. Before even doing the road test, the mechanic look at the tires and immediately, he knew that it was the tire that was producing that noise. He added that it is really the usual complain of Hiace owners, mainly those fitted with Bridgestone AT tires. The uneven wear on the tread makes a space for the air to enter hence the tire produces a sort of beating sound. I asked if I can rotate but he said, it will still be the same. The only solution is to replace. And the older those tires get, the louder the sound becomes. I can not even think and I don't wanna think how much louder the sound will get for by simply recalling those sounds make me vomit. Since only the 2 front tires have those uneven wear, the mechanic said that those are the ones that I should replace. The rear tires are still even in their wear.
After getting out of the dealership, I immediately went to Yokohama to have those 2 front tires replaced. They too know that those are the problem with those Bridgestone's. They offered me the Yokohoma RY818, same size, 225/70 r15. I got it for 6200/pc via credit card. About 300/pc less if cash.
The difference is night and day! If I only knew about that since day 1 of my acquisition, I would have brought it to the tire shop and replaced those Bridgestone's. I am never looking back. It is so much quieter now, more peaceful, waaaaay less road noise and it's even better than when I rolled it out of the dealership brand new, considering the 2 rear tires are still Bridgestone. I can't wait to replace those 2 remaining the moment they produce noise as well.
Toyota shouldn't put that kind of tire, Bridgestone AT, in the Hiace. It's a people carrier and the last thing that passengers want to hear is the howling/growling sound of tires which makes them deaf and have to shout at each other while talking.
