September 7th, 2009 11:18 AM #23I had the chance to test out the car yesterday,
at nagulat ako - nawala yung "nginig" na naririnig at nararamdaman ko sa car!
P.S.
Will try to sched yung Throttle Body and IACV cleaning
1-2 weeks from now (medyo puno talaga sched ko).
Once the free-up ang sched ko, it's back to the shop for
the cleaning.

September 7th, 2009 11:31 AM #25With regards to the AC system, i requested my brother to bring
it to another shop last Saturday.
Compressor daw talaga.
Puwede daw surplus compressor - pero change brackets daw.
May lalagariin sa bracket ko to place a new one for the surplus
compressor. Ayaw ko yata nang ganito.
Yung quote for the brand new compressor and drier was considerably
lower (18K) than that offered by one of the two shops I went to
before for check-up.
The 18K quote includes everything, e.g., a brand new Denso compressor
with a 6-mo warranty (same type as the original compressor found in
the car), a drier, and freon charging.
I remember calling my brother to ask the AC technician about
replacing the expansion valve na rin.
According to the AC tech, di na papalitan yun kasi ok naman.
However, I read somewhere here na pag magpapalit ng compressor,
dapat pati drier and expansion valve palitan na rin.
Am I right on this one, guys?

September 7th, 2009 11:38 AM #27And to add:
I called Denso Coolmate din, and requested a quote for
a compressor for my car - 13k lang - pero wala pa silang
stock. They advised me to call them again next week
para malaman kung may unit na.
Yun nga lang, di pa kasama installation and the expansion valve
and drier, and freon charging.
May promo package daw sila for such - Php6,900 for
everything - though di pa included yung compressor.
Thus, lumalabas, mga 21K+++ sa Coolmate.
Come to think of it, my car's compressor served us well
for 14 years. Yes, di masyado nagagamit yung car - pang coding kasi -
but still, 14 years is 14 years! I've never really given it much thought,
until my brother told me the reaction of the A/C tech when he saw
na original stock pa yung A/C compressor unit ng car and everything
related to the AC system.

September 7th, 2009 11:43 AM #28Thank you for the suggestion, mjim0721.
I am just curious, can't compressors be repaired at all?
Dapat puwede, right?
Minsan, naiisip ko baka gusto lang ng fast buck or mabilisang
trabaho ng iba kaya sinasabi nilang di na puwedeng i-repair?
Puwede naman sigurong buksan and irepair ang mga ito, di ba?

Going for brand new A/C compressor will virtually guarantee it will serve you problem free for many years.
A surplus compressor is a gamble. It can serve you for a few months to a few years until something inside it fails. It is a used part. Also since the specs might not be the same, the cooling effect might not be the same. It could even lead to other problems later on.
