Got the windows version then upgraded to android. I'd say im quite satisfied.
Here's my experience with both...
On WinCe version, the major advantage for me was the dual zone. Since I have also the headrest monitor, my main unit and the headrest monitors are independent of each other. Meaning, I can use the GPS Navigation on my main unit and the kids can still watch movies or TV program at the headrest monitor. The monitor is also not affected when I'm backing up and the main unit is showing the backing camera video. The main LCD is also good and bright. Skin tone is realistic and images are sharp
The main disadvantage of WinCE version though is the LCD screen which is just resistive which is really not as responsive as the capacitive. What made me decide to upgrade to the Android version is its movie player. When you resume a movie, it does not always resume to the point where you left off. Forwarding and/or rewinding a movie in the player is a major pain as you can't go directly to a specific part of the movie. You have to wait it out as you press the FF button (2x, 4x, 8x, etc) to get where you want in the movie w/c will take forever. Playing dowloaded movies is also problematic at times because it only recognize MPEG format and sometimes the aspect ratio is not correct and you have no option to correct it. You just have to reencode the movie to the correct size or just bear watching it streched or cropped. It also has a hard time playing movies at higher than it's native resolution. So good luck playing at least 720p movies.
The major advantage of the Android version is.... well, the opposite of the mentioned disadvantages of WinCE version. I have a Galaxy Note 3 and most of the apps i have at my smartphone can be installed at my Android head unit. I'm using the same apps from my smartphone that i'm familiar with in my HU and that makes operating it a breeze. I can play movies at any format (MKV, WMV, MP4, AVI, FLV, etc). Any format that my MX Pro app can play using my smartphone can also be played in my Android HU. Please note that though it can play 1080p movies, it can have problems in high bitrate 1080p movies since the CPU is not as powerful as my Note 3 but it's a minor issue. The resume function is also way better than WinCE. I can now tap directly to a specific part of the movie. I can change the stock video player and/or music player for a better experience if i want to since it has google Play and wifi capability,
The major disadvantage of the Android version is.... again, the opposite of the advantage of WinCE w/c is the dual zone. The Android HU has no dual zone. In effect, when the kids are watching at the headrest monitor, when you're in backing camera mode or if you want to use other apps like navigation, it will be interrupted as what is shown in your main unit will also be what will be shown at the headrest monitor (even the android home screen). I find also the monitor of the WinCE a bit better quality wise than Android HU as the colors are a bit blown out on the latter. The analog TV reception is also better on WinCE.
If you're planning to buy any of the two, i recommend buying the ABS-CBN TVplus digibox and have it connected to the HU. I got mine and my wife is ecstatic watching her favorite telenovelas while stuck in traffic :D . It's like having a cable TV at my car. Some friends who saw it was awestricken to see how clean and sharp the reception is that they thought i have a cable subscription in my car.hehehe.. especially when they saw i also got DZMM teleradyo w/c is a subscription based channel on cable. I got mine kasi as early as last year when ABS-CBN hasn't launched yet is TVplus blackbox. I don't use the analog TV anymore. I also don't worry about not bringing enough movies for the kids to watch since they can now watch program on TV. From my experience, the whole stretch of EDSA and C5 has good TV signal for both ABS-CBN and GMA and I don't experience signal loss even under shaw bvd and Cubao underpass. In Ayala tunnel, signal is lost when in the middle of the tunnel but immediately recover at the end of the tunnel. Even in Makati CBD, signal loss is rare. However, other channels are still hit and miss when it comes to reception. I think it's ok since most of them are still in their Test Broadcast.
If interested, i can arrange a demo for those comtemplating to buy to showcase the HU and/or the TVplus blackbox/digibox. ;)

February 21st, 2015 09:21 PM #2186Btw, Im not connected in anyway to Growl or ABS-CBN TV+. I bought my unit i think at a little lower than 45K. I forgot the exact amount. My problem now is what to do with my OEM HU as it is just gathering dust in a box somewhere. ☺ My unit is 1.6V.
