AVANZA LUZVIMINDA TRIP (Imus, Cavite to Parang, Maguindanao)
Hi guys! Iwould like to share my experience with my avanza 1.5G automatic when we heads down South last october 13, 2007.we’ve cover a total distance of 1,700km on one way alone. Takes us 2days and ˝ travel. Spend 4k on the Gasoline with average consumption of 17km/ltr. Its kinda economical on the per ltr ratio travel as we dont use the Airconditioning during highway cruising in the provinces.
Here’s the iterenary of the trip:
Saturday 0100H 13.10.07- Take off from my home at Imus, take Daang Hari road to Ayala-alabang interchange to join the South Luzon expressway-Lucena-bicol and Sorsogon. Arrived Matnog Ferry terminal at 1330 and boarded the ferry for Allen,Samar at 1430 for a 1h++ cruise. It was a butt burning ride for that day. 13hours Man! of course some stop over for call of nature and meals in between.Well its rest time on the ferry-(Rusty old japanese junks ferry!!) ZZZzzzzzzzzzz..
Saturday 1620H’same day’- Arrived at Allen, Samar..Drive off immediately till the sun is up! This is the most turturous highway/road ive encounter so far.road were under repair and some has been neglected, might still be waiting for the next election for the budget to come with politikos showing up some pogi points. Its raining cats ‘n dog this time and nightime falls and im still driving to an unfamiliar territory. Arrived at Calbayog at 1800H and decided to continue the journey until Catbalogan and call the night off. So far, been travelling on an average speed of 20kph due to the road condition, darkness and unfamiliarity of the place. touchdown in Catbalogan at around 2100H, look for a nice/safe place to stay and sleep it off away! Take off at 0300H the next day.
Sunday 0300H 14.10.07- Done the necessary check on Vanzy and she’s still looks happy with the trip eventhough shes been thru a lot of hardwork on her underchassis traversing the highway from Allen till here, and its not over yet as the locals say that 90% of roads in Samar are still in bad condition and were still halfway on our passage on the Island of Samar, we still have to tackle 40% of rough ride, well here we go.!!Passed a lot of towns with unpave road and finally arrive in Calbiga, roads on this town has been completed with Asphalt so its a smooth ride going all the way to Leyte.0630H Pass the Majestic bridge (San Juanico) which connect Samar and leyte.I let my wifey drive the car this time so it could be a memorable experience for her,I was the one taking pictures during the passage. it was really an amazing view!!! By 0720 we arrived at Tacloban. Fill our tummy with a good BF, Tank-up vanzy and wash her up as she looks very filty because of the dirt and mud from the Samar passage. Take off at 0800 heading for Liloan,Leyte. Roads were good enough and im making a steady 80kph (to save gas). Arrived at Liloan ferry terminal at 1000 so i can take the midday cruise to Surigao, unfortunately, it was sunday and ferries were only sked around morning and late afternoon, we got plenty of time to roam the neighboring towns.Off we go!! we roam around the beaches and the ruins of lastyear landslide in St. Bernard.
Sunday 1630H‘same day’- Boarded the ferry bound for surigao. it’ll be a five hour trip so i get a good rest onboard, We docked at around 2130 and got off the boat almost 2200. This time will be traversing Surigao-Agusan-Campostela valley-Davao del Norte-Davao city-Davao del sur-North Cotabato and Maguindanao.Roads from Surigao to Davao was perfect! Im tearing the roads at a steady pace thru early morning fogs in the highlands of Agusan and Davao del norte. Arrived Davao City at 0600 and got a nice local BF. Drive off again to Davao del sur, roads are satisfactory enough but by the time weve pass Kidapawan city roads begun to gone bad again, lots of potholes, cracks and repair along the way. Weve reach our final destination in Parang, Maguindanao at around 1300H. It was an exhausting trip but fulfilling and Vanzy didnt turn us down. Thats an amazing 1700km registered on my trip meter and just about time for vanzy’s 5000km service.will wait till we get back to Davao.
We did the same route all the way back to Luzon, Ive plan to pass on the western side like Zamboanga-negros-Panay-Mindoro-batangas route but with lots of ocean passages, ill be spending a lot of dough on the ferry alone. Maybe next time if i had the change and enough dough!!
Trip to Luzon:
Thursday 0400H 25.10.07- Take off from Parang bound for Davao city, arrived DC at 0900 just in time for Toyota DAvao to open up shop and get vanzy’s 5000km service, checks on the underchassis and suspension.everything looks well and ready for the next journey back to Luzon. take off from davao at around 1200H for surigao.
There’s a lot of hassles on our way back to Luzon, it start on the ferry from Surigao when the crossing has been really rough, the ferry was rockin n rollin but thanks God we still made it safely to Liloan, Leyte. My ride has been filled with salt all around because it was stowed on the forward part of the open deck ship and sea water was pourin on it everytime the ship pitch heavily. Car wash was really compulsory when we arrived at Tacloban. We visit the Famous Leyte landing memorial for picture taking and decided that we stayed at Tacloban overnight, The next morning we take off for Samar, There’s a typhoon brewing that Day so the roads leading to Allen was really worse, lots of big delivery and heavy equipment trucks got stuck in the muddy roads thats keeps us stranded for hours until the DPWH cleared the lone roads leading up north. Arrived at Allen at 1800 with the rain pourin hard. All ferry traffic has been halted due to bad weather and we had to call it a night off in Allen ferry terminal sleeping over the car till 0100 the next day. Got onboard the ferry early morning 28.10.07 and touch down Matnog at 0300 and drive off towards sorsogon and bicol. by 0900 we were at Nabua and notice the long line of traffic ahead on a standstill, roads were flooded up to chest high up ahead said one of the locals and its gonna be by midnight that they said that the water would subside. i then look for a safe haven to stay while were stranded. By 1200, ive talk to one of the locals and he said there are alternative route to get away from the flood and would even take us straight to Pili, I let the guy hoop onboard and off we go offroading on unpave and unfamiliar country roads.drop the guy to the place where he wants and gave him some dough for his help. From Pili we continue our journey home when we meet another mishap again, suffered a blown rear tire cause by a 4inch nail. one good thing is that were really close to a vulcanizing shop in Calauag, Quezon. Drove off again till we reach Imus, Cavite around 2200 Safely. That was for almost 3days on the road. Whewww what a tripppp.
Avanza Problem: After a few days from that journey, I experience some trouble with Vanzy. When im running at around 60-70kph and suddenly come to a halt, the engine did vibrate ferousciously and the RPM been dropping lets say from 1000rpm to about 400rpm and sometimes the engine turns OFF. its been Like this for almost three days till i got the time to bring it to toyota service center, It stay there for almost five days as they will be driving it themselves(Tech) to see what really cause the problem. After five days i fetch the car and inquire what really is the problem? they say that its from the TPS(throttle Positioning Sensor) that they have to adjust, they think this been cause by the lots of uphill and downhill driving conditions during my travel to Mindanao. So far the problem rarely surface but i still encounter the problem sometimes, they still havent really gotten rid of it!!!
Any comment guys if you did suffer as well this problem on your avanza?TIA
Is it true na may recall ang yaris cross hev recently regarding sunroof issue? Lol.
