What happened to the 2008 Altis?

I noticed that I rarely see the 2008 Altis on the road. I see more people buying the high-end Vios which costs almost the same as the Altis. I think the new Altis isn't attractive to the market. What do you guyst think?

I really don't know what happened to it but it's not selling like it was before. Bad feedback perhaps on the older versions of the Altis?

JCB, Reason for this is that most of the alstis buyers are still in line waiting for their purchases to come. Yung uncle ko bought his last month pa and sa May pa daw ang dating nung unit niya.

I saw a couple of units last week already. Kaka launch palang naman, wait a couple of months and they'll be like flies..hehe.

Yung vios - altis price comparison. Maybe you are comparing the high end vios with the lowest end altis. That's how it really goes. Even with the highest end city/jazz vs the lowest end civic, halos magpang-abot na ang price.

I have so many bad feedbacks using my altis (02 model) but weird thing is, I love the car and would'nt want to trade it with any other vehicle in its class. Okay naman ang Altis, medyo na highlight lang siguro ang bad feedbacks because its really an over-hyped car. Nothing special. Pero its still reliable like the civics out there. No car is perfect..hehe.

No bad experiences for the prev. gen Altis for me (2001 1.6G-spec). But, when you take a long hard look at what you'll be purchasing, you'll find that it's exactly the same car as it was back when the Altis was re-introduced in 2001. The changes have been purely cosmetic. Nevermind if Toyota put in a newer body (like the current gen Vios) over the engine. The 2008 Altis looks like someone was having a slow day at Toyota's design group. That said, if you're a first time buyer, you'll love the reliability and worry-free operation that comes with owning one.

I still see a bunch of them (with conduction stickers without plates) being driven like crazy en route to their respective dealers on SLEX everyday. I even saw one of the drivers smoking while crawling in traffic . I pity the waiting owners of those cars.

The new corolla(altiz) was launched here a few months pa and a rapid figure nakikita kaagad on the road even the civic was launched a year ago pa. Toyota is toyota. Personally, I dont like the new corolla, even if I owned one before. Many are expecting that it will go better than the civic but it wasnt.

haaaay nakuuu mga sir! nagpareseved ako ng 2008 altis last feb. 20 sa toyota shaw. blvd. sabi nila baka daw march 10 marelease na unit ko, ok... natuwa ako siempre, pagdating ng march 10... "sori ma'am wala pa po ung color na gusto nyo" which is medium silver. ok wait na naman ako... puro sila promises pro wala ng maibigay na date. so, nagdecide na ko na magback-out last april 4, tumawag ako sa honda pasig kung meron sila available unit ng civic 2008 siempre, ang dami nila readily units and kumpleto pa sa colors kaya tinawagan ko bangko to inform na maghohonda na lang ako. holiday ng monday april 7, tinamad ako ng tues. april 8,hehe kaya wed. ako nagpunta ng ps bank main office and * the same day after ko mapachange unit sa ps bank and after magsign na naman ng kutakutakot na papers... ayun na! dumiretso na ko sa honda pasig and * very same day narelease civic ko kaya sorry na lang sa toyota, nabadtrip ako talaga! toyota shaw. blvd. & toyota quezon ave. wala kayo kwentang kausap!!! me unit na ko...beeee!!! honda pa. habanero red. hindi lang ako marunong mag-attached ng pix. dito e,hehehe.

The new 2008 Altis is like the the transition from the Corolla 16v to the Corolla bigbody. A new body and interior but not much difference on the mechanicals.

I saw one sa SLEX galing yata sa toyota plant ksi dun kami nag start magkasabay. What I noticed is that it looks like a Honda City just like the new Vios also.

I ordered a 1.6G M/T variant '08 Altis (medium silver) here in the Toyota Iloilo dealer last April 4 and they said that my car will arrive in the first week of May. Ang tagal naman nun!!!

dumami lang ksi tlga competition ng altis. Nandyan na yung amazingly popular civic and the even more amazingly desirable new lancer. I like the altis for its reliability but seeing the competition , like the new lancer , japan cbu and almost at the same price as the altis i cant help but want the mitsu.

the 2008 altis? meron na? joke! hahaha saw some few ones. when you look at the rear, it looks like the old altis with just a little curve sa rear lights. overall i find the new altis really boring. its not flashy on the streets like the mazda3, honda civic and others alike. the 2008 altis, is just plain boring and really boring.

all improved version ang altis 08 from inside out. mali lang timing ng debut nia sa local market. last year pa labas yan sa ibang bansa. kasabay dapat ng civic 07, inubos muna old stocks . nang ilabas na, bigla naman tumaas todo gas prices. apektado lahat car sales. di nio napansin, may bago ding lancer mx.

When Nissan did this with the Nissan Sentra Exalta Grandeur back in 2001, people responded that it is "bulok", that underpinnings dates back to the 1995 B14 model. Actually, the previous Altis actually came out 2001. Same 6 year tenure for both Nissan and Toyota. Yet I bet Toyota will continue to rock sales than Nissan's N16.
