May 10th, 2010 11:47 AM #1Ang sludging ba ay 90-100% na eeliminate kapag nag change oil ka? For example when I checked my oil, makapal na siya masyado at may konteng sludge na sa loob ng engine. If I change my oil now, will all of the sludge be removed meaning that 90-100% good as new na ung oil or meron siyang cumulative effects for the next oil changes?
By "cumulative effects" I mean ung bits of sludge na di natanggal dahil late ako nag oil change dati ay dadami if I don't follow the next regular oil change schedule.
Here is the scenario: Its been 12k kms since I changed the oil. When I checked it, its very thick already and then small amounts of sludge has formed. If i change my oil now, will all of the sludge be removed or is there a special procedure to toatally remove all of the sludge?

Oil sludge is a problem of the current crop of Toyota vehicles. This is the reason why you should religiously oil change every 5,000Km... Do it now bro, before it presents you with bigger problems....
Engine flushing may be considered...

May 10th, 2010 11:56 AM #3Every 5k kms po ba or every 3 months?
Nalilito kasi ako tol, ang 5k kms ko would last for approximately 1 year, so that means every year ko lang i change ang oil? Pure city driving lang kasi sa akin.
Or dapat every 3 months before reaching 5k kms?
2002 1.8g automatic ung sa akin na sasakyan.

may sludge na siguro yan bro. try to have it opened for inspections.
first of all, bakit hinayaan mung tumagal ng 12k km before thinking of getting your oil change. its a basic routine of basic car maintenance.
have your oil change right now. tama si CVT, engine flush might help. but i highly recommend to open the engine top cover and have it physically inspected. dont forget to share pictures!
for me, i am following the 5k km intervals. which i do atleast 3x a year.
but i think, you should be good at 6months intervals, since your car is not as driven frequently as i think. kung taonan ka magchange oil, diba parang inistuck mu lang at binubulok mu yung langis sa makina? may mga shelf life at service life din naman ang mga langis.
btw, as you did not mentioned, how many kilometers you have already? and when was the last time you have your ATF changed.Last edited by aejhayl17; May 11th, 2010 at 03:13 AM.

Since worry ko din sludging I asked them about it. According to them oil change will not remove the sludge outright but it will little by little just follow the 5km schedule.
It didn't mention after 5km or 3month whatever comes first. And if you will check the PMS chart of Toyota casa, the schedules are by kilometers and NOT by months/time interval. Please enligthen me.
