which is better, im looking to purchase an a/t gas or diesel, what is the approx fuel economy of both? Im originally considering the diesel version because of its fuel economy but Ive read and heard horror stories about the d4d. is the d4d worth the risk? inputs would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Why on earth would you risk that much money on something that:

1.) You know has problems with many victims attesting to the veracity of the defect.

2.) Very high probability of giving you headaches (and possibly death due to an accident).

    Why??

go with the gas variant, better be safe than sorry, anyways the gas and diesel pump price as of now are close, in some fuel station the gas is lower than diesel price

i average around 8.3kms/liter (city) for a gas innova. if that is acceptable to you then get a gas version. otherwise find a different diesel fed car.

Kung laging kargado or laging long trips, siguro get the diesel variant na lang.

Depende kung ano talaga ang main purpose ng vehicle na kukunin mo.

is your innova a/t or m/t? if its a/t youf figures are pretty good and i might just get the vvti variant. the reason why im hesitant to get the vvti is its fuel economy, i dont want another gas guzzler in my garage hehehe, my expedition only averages 3-3.5km/liter so im pretty ok with an innova gas a/t that averages 7-8km/liter in the city

Good for you sir. With the problem on my Innova D4D, I only have 6km/Liter city driving!!

I discourage all of you to get the D4d. As for my case, Toyota sucks! Their service sucks! Their engine sucks! Their "customer satisfaction" sucks! Really this is no BS.

    Reposted with edit:

My brother bought his Innova E D4D in 2005.
Pero until now, wala namang problem. Di naman pa mausok kahit mataas na ang mileage.
Last year, I bought a 2007 Innova E D4D, wala naman ding problema pa.

the d4d is really that bad huh? the reason why im considering it is its supposed fuel economy advantage over the gas counterpart, what i want to know is how much of an advantage it has. plus based on reviews, the d4d is better than the vvti engine, and diesels are supposed to be more flood proof than the gas engine.

I faced such delima when our family were choosing bet Gas over D4D Diesel, since this D4D issue was not totally resolve . So we opted for 2.7 Gas Fortuner Peace of Mind We can never tell something might happen after the warranty period

Both D4d and VVTi are not flood proof BTW, to some extent of flood height both are not suitable to swim on flooded streets.

Both has ECU that needs to be protected from getting wet, both has the same air filter height placement, both have electronic ignition, and most especially they both have same ground clearance.

It would be a wrong notion that D4d is "supposed to be matibay sa baha", don't compare your diesel to PUJ's.

ako masasabi ko lang.. Im not satisfied with Toyota Service... Previously we encountered Gas tank leak in our Innova and Had to Shell out Participation (for insurance claim). Later I found out thru Toyota Q.Ave that it should be replaced for free due to defect.... 3 times kami nagbayad ng Participation sa loob ng isang taon. diba panloloko yung ginawa sa amin... Plus they put our lives in danger... BTW vvti po Innova namin...

from what place is this pic taken? ang lalim naman ng baha nyan.

no matter if its gas or diesel, i dont subject my vehicles to deep water crossings, a pain in the wallet yan to fix if something conks out.

im happy with my choice of the innova gas, no major problems so far (except for the bum fuel problem), i guess that i made the right choice in getting the vvti. at least i have more peace of mind
