dapat talaga may ayuda yan ng government agency and media para bigyan talaga ng aksyon agad agad... TOYOTA is one of the leading car manufacturers kaya dapat bigyan pansin nila yan... kung sa new entry car manufacturer nangyari yan eh mauunawaan ko pa but for Toyota that is unacceptable!!!

BTW, catalytic converters has nothing to do with black smoke, actually it is just there to minimize exhaust products which are harmful to the environment.. same with EGR which main function is to minimize NOX..

But possible the catalytic converter is too small for the engine kaya medyo restricted yung exhaust passage causing wrong DATA information for Exhaust O2 sensor... try nyo paalis muna para lumuwag yung daanan and observe...

Normal lang naman sa diesel engine to produce gray to dark gray smoke during sudden or hard acceleration (napapagpag kasi yung exhaust causing the carbon deposits to exit the tail pipe) pero minimal lang dapat especially pag naka common rail na.. pero kung normal driving mode at may black smoke parin lalo na kung wala naman load yung vehicle eh hindi normal yung black smoke

I hope TMP will replace or refund you

The hit and miss solution is dragging the credibility of the D4d down.

I don't know if this is OT: But to shed some insight from my own diesel experience though...

Toyota FX diesel don't have EGR, catalytic converters and Denso Diesel Particulate Filter but because of emmission regulations newer diesel now incorporate these to technology to lessen emmission.

Now, during those Tamaraw FX days and up to now, if the unit is emitting black smoke it only means that its injector nozzles needs replacement. Its nozzle is not anymore capable of atomizing (mist form) diesel being injected in the combustion chamber and can't anymore mix with air efficiently to form complete combustion and the result is black smoke in the exhaust system, now replace the nozzle tips and recalibrate injection pump then black smoke is eliminated even at high revs. The scenario is A/F mixture not ideal for complete combustion.

This is the same scenario now of black smoke with your units, though emission passes through catalytic converter or even with the Denso Diesel Particulate Filter or even how many times it recirculate back to combustion chamber via EGR, but still if your combustion chamber is producing considerable unburned fuel (black smoke) then all these emission control technology has limitation to certain extent and it has no way to go but to exit to your tail pipe

G2 solenoid...G2 solenoid...G2 solenoid I wonder why it hunts me everytime I go to this thread is there a way to calibrate this thing?

Hi Sgt Peper, Dedeypi, Mile2, Chilun, Horsepower and co...

Dedeypi regarding your question kung anu yung umusok... they tried to remove the catalytic converter and tested it inside the casa kung uusok. After by passing the converter wala naman usok na lumabas pero they are not sure coz they did not test drive it for a long time and normally its takes a week or two for the black smoke to come out

    Sgt Pepper,

The other owners of innova with the same problem met last friday sa greenhills and sayang you were not able to make it. Based from our discussion, we've decided to make 1 letter like a petition and send it to DTI... Ampy will just ask his lawyer if 1 petition will be better or individual letter of compalin. To update you more, Ampy and Barnaby (both are not members of tsikot thread) innova's are in the otis casa and pareho ng pinalitan yung mufler system including the catalytic. Both innovas parts from: injectors, egr and turbo were replaced. According to them, the catalytic was replace by a different size at sabi nila na maliit daw... which makes sense based from YAPOY86 post. Baka nga maliit!!! pero if this is the case... they are doing a trial and error again on the unit plus the fact that they are changing the whole design of the new innova. I'll also confirm this with my service manager if such design is available. Pero yung kay sgt pepper umusok padin.

One thing also i've noticed is that kapag palagi kang bumibirit medyo nawawala yung smoke... i've tried to change my driving style and medyo mas madiin sa accelerator and yun nga ang napansin ko pero that is not normal. After that and you dont accelarate fast and drive normally then dun nagbui-build up yung carbon that causes black smoke.

As for our innova, as soon as the service unit be available that will be the time i'll bring it to our dealer.

One question lang ang naiisip namen during the meeting... ..
Is our problem an isolated case? or marami talagang may problem but just like Ampy and Barnaby who are not tsikot members are not aware that such thread is available. Si Ampy na 1 year na labas pasok sa casa pero hindi maayos. I saw an innova last friday with plate number ZN**** (which is believe is a 2007 model based from the plate number) and habulin ko sana to ask if he/she knows na msuusok yung oto niya pero ang bilis... hindi ko naabutan...

So question lang ulit sa mga ka-innova natin na Euro III model... Do you have the same problem?

    Din

kaya its better to bring it out to the media pag di pumayag TMP palitan unit nyo, para if may iba pang naka experience mas dadammi kayo, as we all know konti lang ang nag surf sa internet, and meron nga bumibili ng sasakyan without even test driving it. so chances are kung may naka expereince man nandyan lang sila and all they know that TMP is doing everything for their car, not knowing that since you bought the vehicles brand new, you all deserve to get what you pay for, and that is peace of mind. can you just imagine bringing your car back and forth to the casa, just to have a trial and error solution.

the point here is you should be getting what you pay for and not TMP is doing everything to fixed the problem (which as of now they cannot even with thai engr's on the case)

pag di pa pumayag TMP, media na kaagad

Pwedeng-pwede. Hopefully matulungan kayong lahat at yung mga iba pang owners na di nakakapag-tsikot.

Innova is meant to be sold in developing countries like Philippines, Indo, Thai, India, Saudi Arabia, etc... Even in Singapore, the Innova is nowhere to be found.

Probably what was meant in the post above was "Euro III emission compliant" and not Euro III model.

    Hello Sirs,

With regards the CATALYTIC CONVERTER, I believe it has something to do with the black smoke. Black smoke, in Chemistry terms, is SOOT. Soot is a complex organic compound made up of CARBON and HYDROGEN atoms (technically called Hydrocarbons).

By the way, I was a Chemistry student for two years and I have been doing hands-on with chemical compounds.

    Going back to the point..

Break the catalytic converter apart and you'll see a very complicated bee hive-like mechanism. Its function is to oxidize the hyrdocarbons (black smoke/soot). This oxidation means that the HC (hydrocarbons/black smoke/soot) will react with oxygen atoms to form carbon dioxide and water (in gas phase) by-products.

The reason why it is called CATALYTIC converter is because oxygen is used as CATALYST to FURTHER lessen BLACK SMOKE or HYDROCARBONS.

Indeed, it purifies emission. And that's exactly its relation to BLACK SMOKE BELCHING.

    ----------

BUT THAT'S NOT YET MY POINT.

The very point of what I'm saying is: replacing the cataytic converter is of no use because the black smoke problem continues to reoccur.

Sir Mile2, thank you for your time and effort.

I'm inclined to believe that at one point, the nozzles also have got something to do with the problem. The thing is: replace the nozzle or replace the catalytic converter or replace whatever, NANDIYAN PA RIN ANG PROBLEM.

So, in short, TMP DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. AND THIS IS THE REASON WHY I AGREE THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS TO BE COMMUNICATED THROUGH MEDIA.

All owners suffering from this problem have to get what is due them! PLUS REPARATIONS FOR DAMAGES -- TIME, EFFORT, and MONEY.

I hope communication through media would materialize.

    Regards.
