inamin na ung one of toyota employees na hindi lahat na parts ng toyota are made by toyota. some parts are being subcontracted.

anyways, my demand letter was being sent to our local dealer here and not directly to TMP. I talked to the customer service just this morning and they asked me kung pwede ba na we make appointment so that the technicians from manila can take a look at the car kung ano talaga problema. Sinagot ko na "I think I know na alam mo (ung customer service rep) na until now Toyota still did not find any solution with the problem and matagal na ung problem until now they don't hve the clue. I know that this is not an isolated case and I also know that I'm not alone who has the same problem." Hindi sya sumagot with that statement so I think they know about that problem and, yes, they still have not found any solution to it.

then sinabihan ko to save me from the hassle and time about that investigation. Hindi guinea pig ung kotse ko na parang gawin nyo ng experiment and further investigation. so the best thing to do is give me the unit replacement.

    Mga sirs,

I would also suggest na those who have their parts replaced before and still the problem occurs and will have another parts replaced, before doing that, have a contract signed by them that after replacing another new parts and the problem still occurs automatic na yan na they will have to replace you to another new unit. Of course, the contract will have to come from a lawyer and witnesses signed. I haven't tried this one yet but you can demand it from them.

    Chilun,Dedeypi, Mile2 and Sgt Pepper,

After all the parts replaced with our innova, here we go again and back to square one!!!! Mausok padin yung amin but the smoke is not as black as it used to be pero mausok padin...Take note yung saakin hanggang turbo na pinalitan! I spoke to TMP customer relation officer and they will forward daw my concern to my dealer and they need to make a techinical field report. I spoke to my Service Manager and since they told me that after replacing the turbo, they don't have any idea anymore of where the problem is so they are giving me a service unit muna and TMP engrs will be the one to check na (Totoo na kaya ito!!).... He told me that they only followed what TMP plant is asking them to do and since the last resort was to replaced the turbo they've already exhausted all effort upto their level...

Ive already demanded for them to replace the unit coz like what you';ve said, i dont want my car to be a guinea pig. Sabi ko na paglalaruan nyo oto ko tapos baka ano pa ang buksan niyo dyan and ayoko ng ganun. Kaya ka nga bumile ng brand new e para walang sakit ng ulo and if you open the engine that wouldnt look good. Dapat palitan nalang nila buong unit. They only advice me that according to the toyota warranty, they will repair what ever is needed and from the sound of it,they will have to repair it what ever it takes....

I might follow your suggestion Chilin regarding giving them a letter and letting them sign that if after changing another part and deffective padin then they have to replace the whole unit.

Right now i was advice that a service unit will be given by next week. I will have to wait for TMP's evaluation of our innova and after that we'll take it from there. They have to personally check the unit first and validate everything before they can make a decision.

Ngayon i have a meeting at 10:30 am with the service manager, Customer relation officer and sales manager and we will discuss the details. I also will hand them a copy of my demand letter.

Last chance na nila ito and hoping that TMP will solve the problem....

    Or Replace it....

ill just give you a feedback and let us know also of your progress...

    God bless!

    Din

Bad trip naman 'yang TMP na 'yan. I even read from the previous post that an Engr from Thailand is sent to TMP to solve the D4-D issue, but to no avail... With the occurences on different car dealers, looks like Toyota Engrs DO NOT KNOW what they are doing. More of a trial and error replacement - shotgun approach ika nga. Dapat yong mga may issue magmeeting muna kayo and do some diagram what parts are replaced and what are the observations after that. Then document it... you know somehow you may be providing important data that the Toyota Engrs help them solve the problem.

I don't want to assume to much, pero baka kasi pinapatagal lang ng TMP ito then you guys end up selling or pabayaan na lang yong issue.

    Sirs aga_cruz, Mile2, ches, and 20vanda01,

I appreciate your support. Thank you, Sirs.

    Regards to all.

    Wait. Sir Dindy,

Like what I said to my customer relations rep "wala talaga problema sa akin kung alam nyo ano i ayos or replace ng parts sa car, if wala talaga kyo (toyota) alam di palitan nyo na ang unit."

the customer relations rep texted me the other day na they got the demand letter and sent a copy to TMP and to their lawyer. yun lang talaga ang update ko dito.

sir, pa emission test mo na yung unit mo sir and talk to your lawyer about what you have gone thru. There's this law about hidden diffects na pwede palitan yung unit.

    cheers!

Kamusta kayong lahat? First of all I have news regarding our problems with the Black smoke emissions but I need some inputs on other innova users and probably even members from club Toyota innova. So hopefully we may get a good feedback.

I already gave a copy of my Demand Letter to TMP and the dealer were I got my unit. TMP Customer relations officer said that the dealer should make together with TMP engrs a Field Technical Report on our unit and will base all recommendations on that whether our unit can be replaced. Although me and my wife is bent on replacing the unit, I know that It may take a long time before they decide and I bet they wont make it easy on us. A service unit will be provided for us while they dissect our innova.

Regarding my questions to other innova users, this is what I got and research about (dapat trabaho ng Toyota ito) I found out that and confirmed that Toyota INNOVA 2007 (later months released) and all 2008 D4D are all equipped with CATALYTIC CONVERTERS and this is to comply to Euro Standards. Before, EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) lang ang nakakabit on older models and these is the reason that when you inquire with your service advisor, they give different answers (try niyo lang magtanong). Some say that EGR lang ang mayruon ang D4D and that gas lang ang may 3 way catalytic converter. They are not consistent on these. Just imagine na pinalitan na nila Fuel injectors, EGR and Turbo assembly ko and not to mention the reprogramming ECU and Purging of the engine and only to find out that baka CATALYTIC CONVERTER ang problem.

Sgt peeper also noticed and I also checked out my sister in laws INNOVA 2005 and found out na iba yung design ng buong exhaust system ng 2008 and 2005 models which includes the catalytic converter. So confirmed ko na iba yung design… my questions are when exactly lumabas yung mga models na may catalytic? What month? Most probably if we determine the exact month lumabas mga models na ito, then you may validate this problem and check out your unit if may black smoke. So far I spoke to one owner and he has black smoke emmison and DENR conduction sticker nakalagay sa upper right hand corner of your windshield (if your facing your car) date is sept 2007. Sainyo ba na may ganitong problem… when did you by your unit?

People from TMAP headed by a Singaporean will be here on September 23 and will check our unit. I am hoping that they solve the problem and if it is really the design that is causing the black smoke, then I believe that a recall should be done. But for me and my wife, we’re pushing for change of unit since parang technically they used my unit like a guinea pig. It’s ok sana kung after changing all the parts e naayos… that is not the case. Hindi na sariwa yung Innova namin….

I will attach the pictures I took and do check out the difference….

By the way, I also noticed that iba talaga yung hatak nung innova namen kaysa sa sis I law ko… parang pigil yung takbo and again I don’t know if the catalytics design restricts the power… ewan ko lang….

     Hope we get a feedback.

Yikes!! how do i post the pics?

    God Bless!

It is highly probable not the catalytic converter, they just run out of words to say, if they change the catalytic converter, black smoke will only be suppressed for a short period and eventually will still exit to your tail pipe.

Logically, where does the black sooth comes from?..it will start coming from the the cylinder head exiting the exhaust manifold and down to the catalytic converter and all the way to muffler tail end pipe.

The ECU is not getting the correct inputs from sensors (O2, knock, flywheel, temperature, crankshaft, etc). In this case a rich fuel mixture is always the case for the common rail injectors as interpreted by the ECU to be ideal where it will produce black smoke of unburned fuel. Modern diesel engines relies heavily on the sensors to operate smoothly and fuel efficient and less vibration.
