Toyota PH to sell FJ Cruiser, takes advantage of JPEPA - Auto News by AutoIndustriya.comLocally, Toyota Motor Philippines Corporation will only bring in one variant, and it gets a 4x4 drivetrain along with a big 4.0 liter VVT-i V6 engine and a 5-speed automatic transmission.
Because it comes with a 4.0 liter engine and is manufactured at the Hino plant in Tokyo, the FJ Cruiser qualifies for the JPEPA trade agreement. To put the FJ's pricing in perspective, the non-JPEPA qualified RAV4 4x4 (with the 2.5 liter engine) retails for PhP 1,963,000.
Thanks to JPEPA, the 2013 Toyota FJ Cruiser will have a suggested retail price of PhP 1,798,000 when it officially goes on sale in October.
Nice SUV that is priced nicely.
But
It appears to be devoid of practicality
so
Its more for fun, show and more as a toy (for those who can and can't afford it) than anything.
but it has a good mileage 17/22 per gallon or 8km per liter not bad plus the automatic version is the more fuel efficient than the manual
our previa and apv does the same mileage
as to practicality, your dead on... except when your going up to Baguio or tagaytay every now and then it would be a good hill climber just dont carry to much luggage(mukhang maliit lang yung baggage compartment)
read somewhere na waterproof yung interior niya? Pwedeng pwede ilusong sa baha without any issues?
^^^meron din akong nakita sa youtube in the past na binubuhusan ng bucket of water yung interior...Hindi ko lang alam kung after gumagana pa mga electronic controls...![]()
That's 9 km/l on the highway. The Explorer is slightly more economical, despite being bigger and having space for seven. It's not really that great for a modern SUV.
Most likely, it won't be any worse than the Rubicon. The difference is that you can get a diesel Rubicon to offset the fuel economy issue.
Of course... given the FJ's looks, it may eat horribly into the Rubicon's market, since it's cheaper. Without knowing the specs of the local FJ, I'd venture to say it won't be anywhere near as loaded with off-road kit... but that won' t matter to buyers. They'll be buying it mostly for the looks.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
FJ Cruiser will be discontinued in 2014 so most likely "inuubos na lang" remaining stocks
Rear diff lock lang yata. The Rubicon has front and rear diff locks and swaybar disconnect.

I'm quite anxious to get these two cars together for a test. But there's no denying the Wrangler Rubicon is the better off-roader... and that's even before you hit the locker and swaybar switches. With the swaybar disconnected, you get some ridiculous articulation. And the Jeep's sightlines are incredible. It's a snap to navigate compared to the tiny-windowed FJ.
BUT: for the target market, the FJ makes more sense. It's definitely good off-road, better on-road and looks fantastic. Toyota will make a killing. I think.
