My Mom & Dad just got their new Grandia Commuter... After they told me the price, I was taken aback by what I saw inside the unit! This unit doesn't look like it cost a peso higher than P700T. But, Toyota is selling these at P1.078M, exclusive of insurance!

    Take a look for yourselves!

    Cheap seats with no headrests...

There are no power windows and no central locking system. It has only basic wheels with hubcaps. And, the walls are covered with "lawanit" with a thin vinyl laminate.

    Here's more...

"Lawanit" wall on the tail door!

    The very basic dash board...

After seeing the unit, I kinda felt sad that I recommended getting it. What was Toyota thinking, trying to pass this off as an over P1M vehicle? This is definitely highway robbery!

i like the interior but no power windows or even locks are really not forgivable for 1.1M the dash design seems ok. although i wish the FAN speed is also a rotary knob next to the thermostat to its right instead of a little hole which seems to have no purpose.

but quality seems to be there naman.

wala power windows & locks? grabe naman yan! for 1.1M mag-roll up and down ka pa ng windows ala 80's

posibleng dalawa lang kahulugan talaga nyan: it's either overpriced over-confident na talaga ang Toyota Motor Phils. ngaun or talagang wala ng halaga ang P 1M sa mga panahon na ito

that does definitely not look like a car worth more than a million! i really believe that automobile companies here are really overpriced and don't offer much in their units.

    Overpriced!

IMO you get much for your money if you would buy a Honda CR-V or even a Nissan X-Trail. But these are in a different class. The Hi Ace Commuter is more for hauling people.

i think it was priced that way because of the tax, kasi its CBU from Japan. Mahal kasi pag galing Japan compared kung galing ASEAN. I definitly agree, the Commuter looks really cheap and has lackluster interior but its soooooo spacious.

I guess it comes with having the latest platform.

But nevertheless, I wouldn't get one even at Php 800K.

The topline model costs around Php 1.5M right?

Seatmate has an interior upgrade package priced around Php 70K.

The current sticker price does seem a little pricey for what little it offers in terms of features and the use of a "lawanit" board for the inner hatch panel will only make consumers feel even more shortchanged.

I believe that "lawanit" board will quickly become a famous D-I-Y mod among Hi-Ace owners.

That's what's frustrating... When you shell-out over P1M for a ride, you expect to get a lot of stuff! And, D-I-Y mods ain't one of them.

ilang beses ko na nakita Hi-ace, sabi nga nang friend ko na nagwowork sa Toyota, kaya mahal eh galing sya nang Japan plus yung framework nya and chassis eh new tech daw. For me, its a poor man's E150, definitley pang out of town trips. Ganda rin lalo na yung black, sans the lawanit board, prang message board namin sa office...

pansin ko lang sa picture...bakit pinalitan agad yung pedals or stock sya?

Why did you allow your parents to buy this expensive trash? I'm sure people who will spend more than a million pesos will examine the merchandise down to the smallest detail..... unless of course, 1 million pesos is just chicken feed that can be replenished next month.

2005 Hi Ace Commuter... Should this really cost P1.1M?
