September 26th, 2018 10:03 PM #1sorry
i'm just annoyed by this "body on frame" claim so let's put it to rest for good
so here's the avanza "chassis". as you can see it's made of SEPARATE PIECES that are spot-welded together. this "chassis" cannot stand alone so it still relies on the rest of the body to achieve rigidity. that's why these pieces are spot welded onto the rest of the body.
this is exactly what a monocoque is
if you look under a typical sedan you'll see pretty much the same thing, with minor variations
under no circumstances can this be called "body on frame". it simply isn't

Monocoque yun. MONO means ONE..
Yung rush para sa identification ko ay monocoque design kasi di mo pwede i-lift yung body from the chassis like sa pick-up or suv or auv

September 27th, 2018 02:02 AM #4Never insisted it was body on frame. What I said is that it's a monocoque implementation of a ladder frame design. So I agree with you that it is a monocoque body - just that it is of a ladder frame design. The confusion arises from the conventional understanding that ladder frame = body on frame. Which in this case is not.
Our little discussion here is probably the exact reason why so many are also confused. Search the following complete with quotation marks: "built-in ladder frame" monocoque body
It is apparently a thing...

September 28th, 2018 04:06 PM #5I just really wished they used a slightly bigger engine really as that would have done wonders for the Rush and their pockets too haha
Come on toyota you could have done better than that haha
You could have obliterated all the competition in this segment if you used a bigger engine. Tsk tsk tsk, all that "Rush", only to come up short.

September 28th, 2018 04:23 PM #7Seen more Rushes than Xpanders on the road recently.
Seems that for the market, it's priced just right.
