medyo out of topic na. gawa na lang kaya ng bagong thread about driving fast? wala na kinalaman vios dito...

it's his preference if he meets an accident, his problem. hopefully nobody else gets dragged along.

Hello sirs... I'm new to Tsikot, and I registered because I am researching about the new Vios kasi iniisip kong bumili. But I've heard that the 1.3 engine is already straining, pulling the bulkier new body of the 2014/2015 model. To those who are owners of the 1.3 E AT variant: What is your take on this? Is it really as bad as some say? How do you find your FC in the city?

Should I buy the 1.3 E AT, or should I wait for an OLX posting for the 1.5G?

some more context: I usually drive with only 1 passenger, my daily commute is Taguig to Makati

    THANKS!

The 1.3 engine is sufficient for most people. You'll only really feel the engine straining when you have 4 or more passengers and you try to overtake or go uphill - but only if you're used to driving faster cars. If not, the Vios feels sufficient for almost all driving conditions.

City FC isn't spectacular though. I only average around 8-8.5 km/L, with lows of 7 km/L and highs of 9-10 km/L.

Highway FC is great though. With a steady 100-120 kph, you'll get 16 km/L, and over 20 km/L if you stay at 80 kph.

Chief, I average 400km fulltank 1.3E AT. Using shell 91 octane. City driving lang yan sir.

I agree with jut703, it is not straining most of the time for the average driver especially if normal route is city driving. I also get similar FC figures in pure city driving.
Test drive one and drive in an incline (fully loaded if sales agent will allow) and feel for yourself. Or maybe, just maybe, given the multitude of gen3 vios owners in the country, you might have a friend or relative who can lend you one for a testdrive.
Given your daily route and budget constraint, my vote goes for the 1.3 variant.

first 1k PMS ko na pala tomorrow. as a first time car owner i'm honestly pretty clueless sa process. based on what I've read, change oil lang naman talaga yung required.
as far as i remember our package freebies include a 1 liter free oil. although im not sure ilang litro ba kelangan sa change oil.

i would also want to ask kung gaano katagal ako maghihintay sa casa? will it take more than two hours kaya?

isasabay ko na rin sana kasi na sa kanila na ipabuff yung scratches I've incurred in the past.

    thanks po.

    1. If you have the time, canvass with the nearest dealers in your area.
    2. Choose the dealer where only the basic are offered. For 1K pms that's only oil, oil filter, and gasket. Avoid additives and extras like flushing, fuel treatment, car and engine wash you need to pay, etc. 1.3 Vios uses a little over 3 liters of oil so your billing should not go beyond 4 liters.
    3. Set an appointment. I personally prefer the first batch at around 8am. I arrive at 7am and sometimes the service is started as early as 7:30. AVOID : walk in. Pwede kang abutin maghapon.
    4. When talking to the Service Advisor, remember #2. Also, choose the area where you can view your car being serviced if possible. They should also provide you an estimate cost and completion time.
    5. Service time for this is around 1-2 hours.

I chose the very basic which is mineral oil since low mileage ako (less than 5K kms per 6 months) but I practice oil change every 6 months regardless of km reading. If I go beyond 5K kms in 6 mos, mileage will then be my basis.
    Actual cost : 1130.45 (free 1 L oil and labor) - 2013
    Dealer : Toyota Calamba

Regarding yung buffing ng scratches, I suggest mag aftermarket products ka na lang po or professional detailer. OR better yet, live with it na lang dahil sigurado marami pang kabarkadang padating yung mga scratches na yan.

    Hope this helps

had my first 1k PMS sa north edsa last Feb. total cost was less than 1,200 mineral oil lang. agree with the other answer that you should set an appointment, and arrive at least 15 minutes before your set appointment. took 1-2 hours for the service. i also had my 5k PMS sa pasong tamo naman last week, fully synthetic naman pinalagay ko at less than 3,200 ang bill ko. for both times i chose the earliest appointment (7AM) to avoid traffic and the hassle na ang daming tao pag dating ng mga 9AM na

    P88 x 4 = P352

Pag tyagaan ko muna la pa budget for deep dish =)

Getting ready for tag ulan.

Good pa yang fully synthetic oil mo IMO, change filter tas top up na lang. Kinuha mo ba yung sobrang oil nung 1K mo?

Same visual inspections lang ang 5K PMS sa 1K.
