The landcruiser will lose some of its aura if it shares its engine with the fortuner and innova (and heaven forbid a Mazda 6 !!!!!!) Even if they are the GR variants. I get the market conquering strategy of toyota. But as a fanboy...it kinda loses its luster.

The V8 D4D diesel was special because it could only be found in the LC200. And vice versa. It was the King of the Hill. The Prado and the others were a clear rung or two lower in the food chain.

News just confirms that Toyota won't be slapping a Mazda-sourced diesel on its most revered nameplate, basing it on engine code and configuration. So the LC will still be a Toyota through and through.

But rumors have been consistent for months now, that at least the Hilux GR will be getting the same V6 diesel.

It's the Prado that needs this new V6, even if detuned from the big boy LC. Always felt lacking with the 2.8L. Will also benefit from JPEPA if having higher than 3L displacement.

That will surely be a hit!

I wonder if LC200 prices will drop in the used car market hehe

It will, lowest it could go is around 1.9M

Lagi naman ganun, like when LC200 was just introduced, used LC100 went as low as 900K for local unit, same or even cheaper than the 80.

But look at the price of the 100 now, 1.5M up for a decent unit.

The model before the current one will always have a low market value and it will only go up if theres a replacement for current.

But the V8s "may" hold better value. Lets see.

Hard to imagine a 2016 model LC200.3 (the last facelift) being sold for less than 3.5m.

    LC people love their V8s.

Like the rebirths esp. the 79s, nobody’s buying those V6s. Everybody’s willing to cough more than a million for the V8s. The V6 stayed far too long on the floor that importers didn’t bring it in anymore.

I'm also thinking V8s might hold, especially since the LC300 is looking more like a minor update than a major redesign.

For the LC300 I'm actually more interested in the gas hybrid than the diesel. If the addition of the electric tech gives it diesel-like economy I think pwede na even if the fuel costs more. It'll be faster, quieter and more refined naman.

LC enthusiasts/owners are funny din, they’re disappointed with the way the 300 looks.

Same thing happened before with 200, like its too big, engine is noisy, its too heavy, its stance is awkward.

But almost everyone ended up owning one.

The purists love the straight 6 ancient 1HZ no-electronics 76s, tho. Those will run forever w/ no dealership attention needed.

    yeah basically they’re like L300s.

Saw a brand new 79 6cyl, para syang L300, no tachs, roll up windows, bench seat sa front, steel rims. Ok the price is kinda steep its 2.8M, mas mahal sya sa L3.

But both of them, like you said, will run forever.

The 70 series v8 has a single turbo vs the twin turbo in the LC200 series. Also manual vs automatic transmission application.

    Drool worthy all of em.

I remember it was mentioned in one of the rumors that the reason the body looks so similar to the LC200 was that the frame is basically identical.

    LC300 frame spyshot

    LC200 frame

Seems true! So this is basically a re-body + drivetrain, but not a full ground-up new vehicle. More like Pajero 3rd gen to 4th gen.

Have to agree. Doesnt look like an all-new LC and looks are very similar and actually underwhelming vs the LC200.
Baka better with more pics and in the flesh
