It falls under performance dissatisfaction if all units have the same behavior. If its an isolated case on certain unit, then it is a defect. Don't worry Toyota will fix that issue but it may take awhile as it is a new model.

Abnormal jerkiness on downshifting deceleration could indicate a torque converter lock-up issue. In the long term, if uncorrected, it may result in premature wear or damage to the torque converter or clutch packs.

So yes, it's a defect that affects function and safety.

Again,- the money question is, why would this have escaped their design, validation and much later,- outgoing QA?

Has anyone test-driven the Fort earlier (before deciding to buy)?

Might as well go back to the 4AT in the interim..

"birthing pains". every car manufacturer has had their share of them.
    it's a fact of life.
what the manufacturer does about them, is something else.

Go to Eco mode and try if there is still jerkiness during the downshift.

Always on eco mode. Will try normal and power modes and see if jerk is still there.

Sir when you decelerate do you use brake or just release pedal?

Irregardless sir but i have to say that the new fortuners brake are a touch grabby on initial pedal application but a driver will get used to it and adjust quickly enough.

The jerk motion is there when deccelerating approx. Thru 35km/h. It's just more noticeable when coasting (no brake application). When braking the jerk motion is still also there just a little more subdued somewhat.

My SA said that this could be tactics to drag the sales. Pero I told him I'll just have to cancel my reservation and plan to acquire the unit maybe next year when the issue is resolved.

Refund will be a week daw.

Update! After numerus calls to toyota philippines customer service untill now no comment and no remedy in sight. Bulag na taga toyota on this issue, any ways despite the jerkeyness i brought the unit to baguio yesturday with 570km reading when i get to kennon road toll i heard clinging sound as in kalansingan tinginan na tao bago bago yun auto. Any ways tried playng with the 4x4 swith nawala naman hope there is no permanent damage.
When im going back naman NLEx running 100k i tried slowing down nag down shif naman while 80k my tries actually sqeek. Now delikado na ito. Hopefully when i tell this to the dealer and TMP i wont feel stupid. Now everytime i complain about the car they told me its normal and how i drive. Kawawa naman ako. Mapag bintangan pa na hindi ako marunong mag drive. Hhhhaaaaayyyy. Well thats it for now still hoping and praying that toyota will fix the problem soon before somebody gets hurt

it will be more prudent if you deposit your car with tmp, so that they'll feel the sense of urgency on your part and they'll understand that you're not taking it lightly. after all, with your fleet of toyota cars, you are their preferred client.
