Hi guys. I'm not sure this is the right thread. Pero I'm planning to buy a new SUV. my choices are down to Fortuner and Everest. I've read a lot of reviews about the two cars. I like Ford Everest because of its safety features (curtain airbags etc) but I'm wary about their after sales service and maintenance cost. Sa Toyota Fortuner naman, may "shift shock" issue naman but as far as I know, mas hindi mahirap ang maintenance ng Toyota. Need help. Any advise/comments? Thanks so much.

Anyone tried adjusting the sensitivity of the automatic headlight for the V variant by themselves o sa casa lang pwede? Kahit maliwanag pag nadaan sa shadow ng building o puno nag automatic on kaagad headlight. Akala tuloy ng sinusundan ko iniilawan ko sila.

Anong model mg fortuner maganda kunin?

    Gas or Diesel?

Both A/T and 4x2 Models lang (G variant)

My dad's been eyeing for a fortuner and he's saving up money for a unit (planning to buy it in cash, maybe next year pa though). He's no technology expert so he keeps on asking me about it and keeps on talking about the fortuner.

Anyways, mostly pang mall trips lang, family lakads and some rare out of town travels. My parents don't travel far (short trips only) and usually city driving lang. It's not going to be used daily and probably would last around 10 years or more in our garage. My dad doesn't really care about features or what basta fortuner okay na sa kanya.

Currently, we have a montero and a vios in our garage...

environmentalists prefer gas. less pollution from gas than from diesel.
but diesel does offer real fuel savings.

anong mas matibay and needs less maintenance? "that would depend on who you are talking to."

the shrewd buyer would make costing calculations involving acquisition cost, maintenance, fuel and all that, and resale price.

    good luck, po.

+1. The difference in price between gas and diesel variants e yun na pang gas mo for the next 3 years. Mas matipid pa ang maintenance cost.

We had the gas fort 2.7 4at. Outside warranty. The maintenance cost is almost the same as a diesel.

In one month i almost spent 20k on fuel

500pesos per day. That was before the oil price crashed.

400 peso/day is still bad imo.

but that would depend on how many km that fuel pushed the vehicle.

Bro., maliit lang pala ang price difference between 2.4G(P1476K) at 2.7G(P1392K) so P84K lang(??)

Gas: 6Km per liter; P37 per liter
Diesel: 8Km per liter; P26 per liter

Bawi na ang P84K na difference sa presyo at about 29,000Km....
(Diesel cost of fuel - P94K; Gas cost of fuel - P178K)

Kung 10Km per year ka lang,- in 3 years, bawi na... Assuming pareho lang ang cost of maintenance....

If the proposed increase in fuel tax occurs or gets approved. 3yrs could be less than 1yr.

Many are getting the FJ cruiser gasoline coz of it's bad ass looks

get the newer Fortuner gas then make it look bad ass, say a P100k more upgrade laki pa din tipid mo. Though 4x2

I doubt if even the FJ cruisers owners use their units for offroad trail, gas yun eh. Kaya lagi yun nasa parking ng Promenade, BGC, Makati lol

We got the gas variant 3rd week of June and iniwan ko lang sa parents ko dahil kailangan magtrabaho abroad. Nasa 500km pa lang ang ODO nya ngaun.

Did I make the right choice of getting the gas variant since hindi talaga cya ginagamit( medyo ilang and nasanay kasi sa sedan si erpats kaya hindi nya din ginagamit)

    I

    Diesel:

If synthetic assuming 7-8 liter engine oil. - 4800 na
Air filter - diesels air filters are price 1k++
Oil Filter - diesel oil filters are priced. Almost 1K++
Fuel Filter - diesel fuel filters are priced 1K++
Cabin filter - most gasoline cars dont have this
Fuel Line Cleaning - now becoming a standard PMS procedure coz of dirty diesel
Engine Oil Flushing - another nee standard PMS procedure for diesel engines

Engine Detailing - i ve manually detailed my car engines both diesel and gasThe diesel cars have so much grime and slimy dirt in the engine spreading everywhere to the rad fans, alternators, compressors, as in eveywhere. Sobrang dumi can contribute to wear.

In terms of engine oil replacement interval

    Mineral Engine Oil. - Gas: 5Tkm. - Diesel : 3TKm
    Synthetic Engine Oil - Gas 10tkm. - Diesel : 6Tkm

Diesel is nosiy, it gets noisier as it ages.
Electronics in diesel engines scare a lot of mechanics. I dunno why. Or maybe it's an act so that they can charge more
