Finally got to see the new Fort in the flesh!
Is it just me but sitting inside (either as passenger or driver), I can't help but feel a bit underwhelmed in light with all the hype. I'm an owner of a '06 Fort and I don't think I will quickly let loose of that unit now and get the new one.
I notice the 2nd row passengers seem to have better hip room and feels more comfortable vs. the 1st Gen.
The third row seats are so much easier to fold up just by standing outside. No need to go inside to fold it up as in the case with the 1st Gen.
The dash center console layout and design is a bit of a let down. Aircon control (whether its manual or electronic) is located on the bottom half so in my opinion, its a bit hard to read the control when you are driving. On the very top, the clock feels a bit cheap and looks dated.
The "orange beige" cloth upholstery on the entry level G variant is on the tacky looking side but you can always have seat covers to cover it. Given the light hue, seat covers are needed bec. it will soil easily.
The wheels on the G variant is not so bad but of course the one on the 4x4 V is still the one to have.
Verdict: Get the G variant. Get some seat covers to cover the tacky orange upholstery. Replace stock 17" wheel and tire with the 4x4 V's wheels.
PS: Based on what I saw on the engine bay, aftermarket filter like BT223 *might* fit. Any wider filter might not fit bec. of the design.
PS2: There are three units at Otis now. 2 units are G variants. 1 V variant (4x2 I think). One of the G variant has been reupholstered with dark brown leather upholstery (ala V variants).
Went to toyota alabang last thursday, nakita ko na ung G variant na matic e may paddle shifter din contrary sa nakita kong flyer at specs ng mga local auto websites.
Here are some images from last week's visit at Toyota BGC.
I'm 5'7" and I fit perfectly on the third row seats and there is still ample of legroom for the 2nd row.
The G variant does seem to have a DRL and Highbeam configuration (like the Ford Everest) because of the dual filament bulb.
There are also soft touch leather on the G variant like on the center dash. front cooler box, and center armrest.
You'll also notice the chrome strip on the windows and door handle is not available on the G variant.
G gets Auto up/down on driver window only.
The ceiling mounted aircon controls for the G variant is different.
No Cruise control for G but there are paddle shifters.

nice pics (by the camera or phone)! Thanks for posting them here.
3rd row seats can recline, unlike the everest. I notice the new fort uses AT tires.
Why in the world did they put fabric on door close grab handle? Of all places, this is very suseptible to grime accumulation. Soft touch leather should be appropriate here.
Fabric was originally specified for the door sidings. But I inspected the actual unit (G and V) and turns out its not fabric after all. For the G variant (the orange beige color), it could actually be vinyl, even the leg cushions on the dash as well as the center console top. I think they do this to keep cost down and seat upholstery are in fabric.
For the V variant, considering the price, it should be all leather upholstery.
