There are times that they give discounts. Of course if you opt first in, then there would be slim chances for negotiating. Whenever there's an incoming facelift or MMC, promos are abound.

Yes, definitely. The market will be flooded by old Fortuners as the owners will upgrade to the new one.

Dapat bumaba ang price ng Thailand made cars. Wala pala effect ang asean free trade zero tariff. hilux top of the line 4x4 at is 1.68m. inalis nila yung leather seats. no DAC. no iPad style stereo system. gagatasin naman tayo... pag number 1 na sila sa sales.

It looks good actually basing from the pics from this blog post

2016 Toyota Fortuner displayed in a dealership post-unveil

basing from the price of the Hilux it's quite expensive as compared to the outgoing one. Mahal na talaga siguro ang mga sasakyan nowadays....

Talo ka rin sa resale value kasi. For example, the 2007 Altis 1.6G (9th gen) sells for only about 300k. In comparison, the 2008 Altis 1.6V (10th gen) sells for about 420k. You get a resale value that's 40% higher with the new model compared to the old one.

Hindi naman 120k ang discount sa Altis noon, so talo ka pa.

Forgot to factor this in and my recommendation just focused on the acquisition cost.
Agree with you if he is considering to sell the car in short or mid term (3-7 years maybe). But if he is planning to own the car for a longer period of time or permanently... and urgently needs a vehicle, going old model may be a better choice.

I guess the bottomline is that no bad choice in going either as long as he weighs the factors correctly and he is happy with his decision. Fortuner pa rin naman yan.

Not that mahihirapan ka naman isell kasi Toyota pa rin naman yan. Yun nga lang as pointed by jut703, mas mababa ang resale value na makukuha mo since older gen na sya.
