2012 Avanza: No cigar lighter/power socket on 1.3 models

What's up with Toyota? Sorry no photos. But a friend of mine got a 2012 Toyota Avanza 1.3E this week and was surprised to find that it did not have a cigar lighter or power outlet for his charger.

The agent's reply was that is how the factory configured it and that my friend didn't smoke anyway. I somehow did not find that funny. Non-smokers sometimes need to charge their phones or personal music devices also.

In it's place is a black blind plug mocking you of the outlet's absence.

Even more startling is Toyota's refusal to sell him the part. Called up different Toyota Branches and everyone claimed they did not have the part in stock.

Php300.00 and a trip to Banawe solved the problem. But still, it's a brand new car and not many people are really willing to go aftermarket in their day old car to solve a problem that shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Yes, walang butas. Ok lang walang lighter. Pero wala din yun outlet. Just a blanking plate in it's place to cover the hole that's supposed to be occupied.

this is the only car i have seen till date without a cigarette charger, what is wrong with toyota ......never mind the car charger ,,,,avanza is disgusting vehicle ....i have a one month old avanza 1.5 G and the the doors vibrate when i play any music with high bass ,,,,, not to mention the cheap quality of keyless entry , cheap plastic steering wheel and poor quality music system and speakers they have installed in the avanza. the car at 80 km/hr makes so much of engine sound that it gets difficult to even talk inside the vehicle , and aerodynamics of he car is poorly designed ? just compare it with the altis 1.6G of same price and u can clearly see the difference how toyota is cheating its customers on quality on the avanza.

It means people buy Avanza without this outlet feature...abala lg pagkabit ng aftermarket..hope it won't void the electrical warranty..yet Toyota doesn't even bother how this inconvenience may affect their reputation..grabe ibang klaseng sistema talaga..

That's Banawe price already. Toyota probably pays less than half that since they get parts in bulk...

220V inverters don't plug into USB ports. Same thing with air compressors, the power operated diamond jack, and the travel cooler.

The 1.5G model has a cigar lighter. Why can't the lesser variants have it?

I have a 1.56G and it does NOT have a cigar lighter. And it also has that useless, mocking plug.

many years ago, a giant manufacturer disapproved a 14 dollar attachment, to cut costs. the result? the car drove "like a pig". the attachment was sway bars.. and the buyers made their comments using their wallets.. to the competing car..

Is this car the reason why the malls are now flooded with Circuit, Elevo, or whatever those el cheapo store brands are Php129.00 cigar lighter retrofit kits?

I saw this also just last week when i happened by a unit being delivered at the office. No power socket for the 1.5L just as well.

Aki, parang FC lang ng Suzuki APV a/t we had as a service car at the office before (6km/L++); and the APV has even better interior space.

depende sa route at driving style yang FC.. masyadong mababa yang 5 to 6 km / liter.. most likely around 7 to 8km / liter ang 1.5G a/t in worst city traffic, some even get 8 to 9 km / liter..

Can't expect too much from a small engine mated to an automatic carrying such a heavy load in traffic. In mixed driving, the 1.5 AT gets about 9-11 km/l.

Wierd, vinj is right nowadays we seldom check this items coz as far as we know this is already included in all modern vehicles. I myself wasnt able to check out this missing items. We are in a hunt for a small UV for my moms use and avanza was on top of her list, good thing she immediately cancel her order from balintawak branch upon learning the 1.5 AT is only consuming 5 to 6 km/liter for city driving. I was with her when she was checking out the avanza, honestly i didnt notice the missing power supply plug.
