2012 Avanza: No cigar lighter/power socket on 1.3 models

What's up with Toyota? Sorry no photos. But a friend of mine got a 2012 Toyota Avanza 1.3E this week and was surprised to find that it did not have a cigar lighter or power outlet for his charger.

The agent's reply was that is how the factory configured it and that my friend didn't smoke anyway. I somehow did not find that funny. Non-smokers sometimes need to charge their phones or personal music devices also.

In it's place is a black blind plug mocking you of the outlet's absence.

Even more startling is Toyota's refusal to sell him the part. Called up different Toyota Branches and everyone claimed they did not have the part in stock.

Php300.00 and a trip to Banawe solved the problem. But still, it's a brand new car and not many people are really willing to go aftermarket in their day old car to solve a problem that shouldn't have been there in the first place.

Correct me if my understanding is correct.. Wala siyang lighter and power outlet plug.. Yung subaru ko kasi walang lighter pero may plug para gawing charger..

That's Banawe price already. Toyota probably pays less than half that since they get parts in bulk...

via USB na yata ang charging kaya tinanggal na nila yung cig lighter..

220V inverters don't plug into USB ports. Same thing with air compressors, the power operated diamond jack, and the travel cooler.

The 1.5G model has a cigar lighter. Why can't the lesser variants have it?

Yes, walang butas. Ok lang walang lighter. Pero wala din yun outlet. Just a blanking plate in it's place to cover the hole that's supposed to be occupied.

Hehe. No return no exchange na kasi. By the way wasn't he able to check that before he bought the vehicle? Sa experience ko kasi last na ibinibigay yung cigarette lighter together with the tools and EWD bago approve ng checklist.
