Slightly better, but still not the 3.0L output one would be looking for.

Sana hindi nalang nila binago yung engine kung ganyan lang din.
Kasi mas lalakas lang yan sa krudo![]()
Euro IV compliant na kasi yung 3.0L at mas refined due to the twin balancer shaft. Pero, mas malakas pa rin sa krudo especially sa traffic.
I observed that the max torque runs between 1,200-1,600 rpm. Parang truck engine ang performance nito, more on hauling heavy loads. Tuned to unleash its maximum output at a low 3,000 rpm. Malamang high speed ang differential nito to compensate with the engine's low speed performance.
O nga eh. Considering minimal lang yung gains on performance. Sabagay, the 2.5L wasn't a slug, and was pretty well-matched to the Grandia, so this should feel slightly better.
Ah ok. Better refinement. Hopefully evident yan sa nakasakay/driver, consider nasa loob yung engine, unlike vans na nasa separate compartment sa harap.
Toyota's pretty good matching their low-spec'd diesel engines with low to mid end grunt such that they seem to be performing faster than expected.
It's no 2.5L Starex GRX CRDi, but it felt faster than it is on paper.
Its good that they put in additional mirrors. Its so difficult parking without those. We had a not so good experience with this vehicle. Always stalls (maybe the d4d problem???)
Kahit anong facelift pa gawin sa mga van na refrigerator type ayoko padin nakakatakot mag drive ng car na walang hood, i might as well get a starex if I'm looking for a van
i saw the brand new (minor facelift) look of the hi-ace when i got home in Lucena last Sunday...although the pictures of the headlights shown here is different from what i saw (pero different na sya compared from those sold here earlier), the front bumper is also different (somewhat similar to the front bumper of the altis), no "D4-D" badge on the sides, and the hub cap is also different. BTW, it is the GL grandia variant that i saw.
Per se:
170 hp (125 kW) at 3400 rpm, and 260 lbf·ft (352 N·m) of torque at 1800-3400 rpm.

Pero for the Hiace:
80 KW * 3000 rpm
286 Nm at 1200–1600 rpm

nothing new except the headlight na ginawa nang 4 bulbs. at yung front mounted mirrors ba ang tawag dun?
