I use Mobil super syntetic...

Hi, I own also a 2004 altis 1.6E. Kung tignan mo yung owner's manual nya ang nakalagay na schedule ng change oil ay every 10k km, pero kung basahin mo mabuti yung nakalagay sa manual, ang sabi is change oil every 5k km if driving mostly in polluted and dusty conditions.
Ako ginagawa ko change oil at oil filter every 5k km or every 6 mos whichever comes first, mineral oil or synthetic. Ang prevention nito is regular change oil on time, wag mo intayin mag 10k km mileage mo bago k mag change oil, other than that super reliable naman ang altis

you can also open the engine top cover by yourself basta marunong ka at maingat ka trumabaho. madali lang naman. mga 10+ bolts lang

    i have a 2004 altis 1.6E MT. 98K km

i highly recommend to open the top cover since its a 2nd hand vehicle.

5k km change oil and filter interval seems to be the best prevention for our sludging problems. it worked for me.

    strictly follow your vehicle's PMS.

Change the oil every 5,000kms. There are too many cases of sludging already that occured with those who followed the 10K change oil service interval.

    Plugs - NGK BKR6E-11
Coolant - Anything red (i just buy the premix at the Toyota dealer) then add in a bottle of RP Purple Ice or Red Line Water Wetter if you want.
PS Fluid - any Dexron III rated ATF will do
Brake Fluid - Prestone DOT 3
Motor Oil - Shell, Caltex, Mobil, Royal Purple, etc... almost any oil with at least API SL/SM rating should do. If you want to avoid any possible leaks, go with 20W40 or 15W-40 weight oil. What's important is you change every 5,000kms.

don't forget to clean the brakes every 10,000kms and have the MAF sensor cleaned as well with some contact cleaner or carb cleaner (its the sensor after the airbox). Have your fuel filter and air filters checked as well.

On the timing belt, the Altis uses a timing chain and this does not need any replacement.
