Well, you should check out first which government agency those vehicles belong to. Most high-end vehicles that you see are the property of PAGCOR as these are being used to also chauffer VIP casino patrons. The Supreme Court also has a high budget for the vehicles of their justices (if you want to have a clean judiciary - you have make sure that the justices are well compensated to begin with).

Directors of government agencies use 1.6L sedans or AUVs.

As I've been saying before, if all Filipinos were paying the right amount of tax we wouldn't have this problem. More than P200B a year is lost due to the underdeclaration of income tax, wrong remittance of VAT, tax leakage, etc. P200B is a lot of money and can effectively double the salary of all gov't employees and double the money used for infrastructure & defense.

Makes me wonder how Marcos was able to maintain the AFP then. I'm sure the lease from using Clark AB and Subic Navy Base played a part. But, I doubt it would've been enough to sustain the whole AFP.

Anyway, this should be a wake up call for the Phil government to start taking care of the AFP more. They've been neglected far too long.

di nga ba iisa lang din ang hinaing ng mga junior officers, na talamak ang corruption within the military organization. Ilang presidente na ba ang nagdaan at hanggang ngayun neglected pa din sa mga hinaing nila.

Sa mga soldiers, saludo ako sa Pinoy but when it comes to equipment, ah forget it. Ultimo helmet na lang ginagawa pang gatasan tsk tsk hay naku!

i cant agree 100% to this. Taxpayers are at fault? Not Corrupt government officials stealing the money and not using it for what its intended for?

According to a friend whose dad was In The Navy (YMCA!) the US government was even responsible for paying the Navy's fuel bills. The rent on those US bases, pegged at ~$1.5 Billion a year back then, wasn't the only form of aid the US provided.

As for M2.. I have to disagree regarding the taxes. While it is true that the vast majority of people evade taxes, the fact is that most of the taxes that DO get paid (me included, being a salaried employee I've been paying correct taxes my entire professional life) are stolen anyway, is sickening.

I think what tax evaders say is, 70% of what I pay will get stolen anyway, so..

Wala sa mga taxpayer ang problema, nasa mga namamahala. Kahit magbayad pa tayo ng tama wala pa ring pupuntahan ang 40% ng mga taxes natin kundi sa mga bulsa ng mga tiwaling pulitiko.

Luxury cars are small fry compared to military hardware. Take the F16 for example. About $20,000,000 each. To acquire just one F16, and run it for one year, we can probably buy a Ferrari F430 for every single congressman.

We gotta face the facts, our country is way too poor to maintain a modern military.
