Actually some cars w/ DRL can be turned off like the Camry. If you put it in auto it will toggle between DRL and Lowbeam.

It is not the low beam itself but another set of very low wattage lightbulbs.

Tama ka diyan sir OTEP. It is also a common practice that you turn your headlights on when using your wipers.

Kung okey naman ang visibility sa paligid, what's the point of having them on?

mag one year na by the end of the month iyong nasa fd (courtesy of gary q) and hindi pa naman namatay iyong battery maski tapos na iyong warranty ng batt (due for replacement na din pala siya hehe).

Most cars dito sa US standard ang DRL like my 07 Corolla/Altis that I traded with an 07 Grand Vitara. Yung vitara ko may sensor sa dashboard for the automatic headlamps, pag madilim mag-auto-on ang headlamps, fog lamps and tail lights, then pag maliwanag na mag-DRL naman sya. May option to put your head lamps to auto para sa mga makakalimutin mag on/off ng headlamps. During the day, DRL will be turned on pag binaba mo lang ang parking break mo at mag-off sya pag tinaas mo ulit and there is no option to disable it, but others are making a bypass to disable the DRL, ewan ko kung bakit ayaw nila ng DRL.

Depends on the car. On the VW passat 100% sure it's the low beam itself. On other cars like the Lexus RX300 its' the high beam naman, I guess on some other models may dedicated DRL light.

Passat Low Beam vs DRL mode (notice the bulb in use is the same)

You can even open up the cluster, wala talagang ibang bulb for DRL, it's just a matter of controlling the voltage to the light.

You're right, some models have dedicated DRL just like the USDM Camry.

Correction on the Camry. The DRL is the same bulb as the High beam. Pics of my Camry. DRL, Low beam and High beam.
