hi mga sirs, new lang ako d2 sa tsikot. i own a 2003 samurai 1.3L Jx (all stock). my fuel consumption: 8.7 ~ 9 km/L sa city driving and combination with highway. kahit di ako gumagamit ng aircon, ganun pa din consumption. mahal na kc ngayon gasoline, so maybe u can give me suggestion kung pwede pa sya i-adjust or modify or do something para mas maging efficient pa?

makukuha pa to sa regular tune up using synthetic lube at adjustment ng timing ng engine? modification/replace/adjustment sa carburator?

    or, bawas ng overall weight?

or, should i trade it with honda civic lxi?

    any suggestion is highly appreciated

    salamat ng marami mga sirs

sir i dont know the normal FC for your ride pero i own a civic lxi... im getting 12-14 km/l pero im doing neutrals in high speeds. yung iba naman normally is getting 10-12. so im guessing its not far off.

baka sir kailangan lang ng malupit na tune up niyan... pero lets wait for the reply of others.

I own a Vitara bro, kung highway driving umaabot ako ng 14 km/liter with aircon on. Kung alang aircon lampas 15km/liter. What I do is just maintain a constant speed lang o 60 to 70 kph and do regular tune-ups. I have monitored my FC kasi since last year (nasa excel file sa bahay-for budget purposes). It also helps (I believe) that I have used 10w30 synthetic oil during regular tune-ups/change-oils. I used to get lower figures (mga 10-12 km/liter lang - highway driving) when I was still using 20w50 oil. Regular changing of fuel and filters also helps, follow the tire air pressure na nasa door sill din bro. And follow the specified PMS schedule. Wag mo nang ibenta ang samurai mo, mas bombastic yan kaysa sa auto.

i think you are still in your average range of FC bro sa City driving.
however, you may still lower it down by doing:

    a) during your next oil change, use something with a higher viscosity (like a semi-synth or a fully synth). i myself have already observed improvements in FC when i am using a mineral based and a semi-synth based oil.

    b) regular tune-ups. have the timing updated and change your plugs every six months. and yes, change your air filter too regularly.

    c) check your tire inflation, they should be inflated equally, regularly.
    d) as much as possible, try to limit the use of your AC. but imho, during these times, hindi ubra yan.
    e) try to shift between the 2-2.5k rpm level.
    f) limit your speed to at most 80 kph. but since you are in the city, you seldom get to drive at these speeds anyway.
    g) try to remove unnecessary weight from your car. madami dyan sa trunk ang hindi mo kailangan.
    h) i was supposed to recommend you to use E10 fuel, pero baka hindi ubra sa Sam mo.

    Bro happy,

Question lang, less thicker oil vis-a-vis what you are currently using? say from 20w50 to 15w40 ?

honestly mga sir, di ko alam kung anong oil, filter at kung ano ano pa nilalagay kay sammy. iniiwan lang kc to sa casa ng bro ko before. but im planning to have my PM somewhere trusted. wala kc ako masyado alam sa tsikot... gamit lang gamit . about sa tires, dun ako regular check. i maintain 40~42 psi (44max) para tipid daw. mas malambot daw mas magastos, tama ba?

wow! dami nyo alam, di ako nagkamali pa member d2. next PM susundin ko lahat ng suggestion and will check my FC. if no or have improvements, post ko agad d2 for the benefits of nakakarami na gaya kong engot sa tsikot. kala ko kc nun driving habits lang.

i dont exceed to 2k rpm pag 1st to 4th gear lang (except when overtaking). tama ba? feeling ko kc nilalamon gas ko pag sobrang taas ng rpm at speed below 75kph. at aound 80kph, i maintain 2.5k rpm lang

ang ayoko lang sa itsura ng samurai 2003 is...masyado syang mahaba. the front view is boombastic, like our bro said hehehe.pag nakatalikod look like pajero..but sa side view, i really dont like it, kc all stock lang ako. tamad kc magpaganda ng tsikot .

anyway, thanks sa lahat ng info

mga bro may questions ako.senysa bopols ako sa wheels:

    1. how i know kung mataas ang viscosity ng oil? ex: 20w50 & 15w40, w/c is better? w/c brand is better?
    2. how much diff bet full syn, semi syn and mineral based oil?
    3. what is E10 fuel? (halatang walang alam)
    4. many researchers recommend to run 80kph max at highway for higher fuel efficiency. is this applicable to any kind/type of vehicle? bec i use this practice since i learn how to drive
    5. since last week, im using velocity as my fuel. i can see a little changes, of course aside from the price . did i choose the right fuel?
    6. how do i know if my mechanic is doing **** on my car during PM? i want to watch on next PM to learn
    7. should i change my tire to a thicker and larger in diameter to save gas? mine is stock, i dont know the size but its kinda big na
