January 23rd, 2009 04:25 AM #1patulong naman po... lancer 1998 glxi a/t,, problem is pag nag brake, may konting surge sa rpm (900 to 1000) then balik agad sa 900 rpm (miski hindi tapak sa gas pedal) kaya pag di todo apak sa brake, parang tumatalon konti.. ano po kaya problem? Just changed timing belt and brake fluid, cleaned servo. Ayos naman po ang shifting, starting rpm 1500 to 2000, then settle na 900 after ilang seconds,, help badly needed... ty

Sounds like you have vacuum leak in the hydro vac (brake booster) or the vacuum lines going to it. Bring it to shop.

check po yung brake booster sir.. baka may leak. or yung check valve sir na

That's normal. Power brakes operate using the engine vacuum and can sometimes cause a slight variation in engine RPM due to the small, temporary vacuum drop in the engine when you hit the brakes. The RPM immediately goes back to normal because the system will immediately stabilize. It's usually a very small RPM change, but it can sometimes be enough of a variation to notice.
