my tire's specs is 185/65/14.. and its due for replacement.
ive heard that the stock 14 inchers can handle as much as 195 even 205 mm.
what are the adverse effects of doing this?
for daily driving & occasional track use ngapala:DLast edited by benchph1; November 22nd, 2004 at 02:52 PM.

Adverse effects? Higher gas consumption (if they're sports tires), maybe a bit slower (more drag)
If you're going for occassional track use, go for 15" rims and 195-205 / 50 tires... masyadong mataas yung sidewalls kung 60 - 14 yung tires mo... won't give you much grip. Best compromise size is 195-50-15 or 195-55-15, enough grip for occassional track-work, and still streetable.

November 22nd, 2004 09:36 PM #4Compute rolling radius: 185/65R14
185x.65= 120.25
14/2=7x25.4= 177.8
120.25+177.8=298.05
Rolling radius= 298.05mm
Use same formula with alternative sizes and try to stay as close as possible to orig spec of total rolling radius (+ or - 6mm).
If too big you may lose torque on gearing which is bad for track use but ok for hiway.Last edited by jackaroo; November 23rd, 2004 at 07:16 AM.

thanks for the inputs guys..
jackaroo,
ive tried to compute the rolling radius using 195/60/14 as sample/ from your post,
185x.65= 120.25
14/2=7x25.4= 177.8
120.25+177.8=298.05
Rolling radius= 298.05mm
185 is the tire section width,
.65 is the aspect ratio,
14 is the rim diameter,
whats 25.4?

The 25.4 is the conversion to mm from inches so we get a figure that's all in mm.
jaycv
The RR for 185/65R13 tire is 285.35
The RR for 195/50R16 tire is 300.7 so the difference is 15.35mm- too big since its more than an inch tall when you double the radius.
A closer size to orig spec is 195/45R16.

jackaroo,
uh pardon me medyo slow ata ako ngayon :bwahaha:
can you compute the rolling radius for me using 195/60/14 as basis?
thanks
Choice I would have made as well.:nod:
