Rubber boot question (repair or replace)

After changing my oil in the casa, they recommended replacing the lower RHS control arm. I asked why, they said they found a tiny hole on one rubber boot. Replacing it would cost me P7800.

My question is, do I really need to change the entire lower arm just for this tiny hole, or are there any other remedies to fix that hole? Maybe refilling the grease and sealing the hole or something. Any experience guys?

if not, pakita mo nalang sa suspension experts near your area

Yung sa dulo ng lower arm, sa may gulong na banda. Yung Focus pa rin to. After maayos na ang shock absorber, ito na naman ang problema haha

the rubber boot has no structural function.
the objective of the rubber boot, is to protect the metal parts of the joint from rusting or wearing out faster than it normally does.
if the joint is still good, i.e., no noise or excessive free play, then you can go on using it, as is.
you can replace it when it starts acting up (above).

kasi, my suspicion is, you can not replace that boot. you have to replace the entire assembly.
might as well maximize it, before replacing it.

in the past,
we have continued using the joint, even if the rubber boot had already torn.
tumatagal naman yung joint, before it starts acting up. something like a year... maybe more...

inject grease inside the boot. then patch the hole w/ a bicycle tube patch. get a small and flexible one like Maruni

but that's just delaying the inevitable

Kakapalit lang ng shock absorber na nag leak sa side na yan. The mechanic probably didn't bother to clean it up. Soaked nga din yung rubber ng cv joint. Pa check ko pa ulit kung may leak.

Thanks for the suggestion. Naisip ko din yun. Will probably try something like that. Kung wala talaga, tama si dr, baka hayaan na lang hanggang may tunog na, then replace.

Surface must be oil/grease free. Using something like the Bailcast split CV Boot glue might be better.

That looks like a ball joint boot; it prevents dust and water getting into the joint. If the joint is still in good condition, replacing just its boot is a nice option. You can try 'em mechanic guys in Banawe as they might just find a boot from a recovered joint.

most of these boots are not cheap to replace.
while the rubber boot itself might cost only so much, the labor involved might cost more than the part being replaced. babaklasin kasi yung buong dulo...
as i recall, the classic VW air-cooled axle boot was designed for ease of replacement. it had a longitudinal opening that is closed in place by multiple bolts and nuts. parang butones ng polo shirt.

Look at them today....mod a lil, miss a PMS, void the warranty. Electronics, diagnostics, Make-badged lubes/fluids, CVT, planned obsolescence.....so many tricks up their sleeves. Cars are no different from cellphones now.[emoji16]

pinoys would call it the tata u-nano would fail for the same reason it failed in india, pinoys wouldn't want to be seen driving a "cheap" car they'd rather buy a used car instead

Ah, question answered. It's a familiar sight kasi because it's happened to me before.
