I have a power steering problem the service centers at banawe and even Honda casa itself can't solve.

It is stiff only the first 5 minutes in the morning.. then ok na the rest of day.

What could usually be the cause? The steering pump still sound good they (even Honda) say. I got a pressure hose replacement (hose going from power steering pump to rack and pinion) when I got it serviced 2 years ago. But there has been no morning stiffness.. it only started this year January 2. Honda told me to use original which has bigger diameter instead of the replacement because mahirap mag pump daw kung maliit diameter.. but why didn't the problem come out the past 2 years. Sayang naman if I changed to a 13,000 Honda hose and the problem still there.

Has anyone encountered this? ano possible cause? I read in internet if the rack and pinion is going bad.. it has this symptom.. I got my rack and pinion changed 2 years ago using replacement too. Original costs 50,000.

    Any theories? Any experiences?

You and your technician will find the answer easy if you perform a steering pressure test at a cold start and wait until engine warmup while the pressure gauge is still hooked up. There could be a problem with the pressure relief valve at the base of the pressure hose at the P/S pump

I went to a service center kanina.. they didn't have any pressure gauge.. are you supposed to insert this in between the power steering pump and pressure hose?

The steering fluid is blackish. I told the technician to drain it. He couldn't open the rack and pinion assembly tubes. So he tried to open the end of the pressure hose and let it drain there.. then he told me to turn on the engine.. he lets it drain while adding new fluid to the reservoir... this process emptied the steering fluid in the rack and pinion.

When I tried to turn the wheel.. the rack and pinion made a big noise. Later. After he screwed the end of the pressure hose and closed the reservoir. I couldn't turn the wheel. He kept turning it hard with big noise. He even jacked the car up to turn the wheel. After 10 minutes.. the wheel turns na soft na.. but meron pa great noise even until now.

The technician said the noise is because of air in the rack and pinion. Totoo ba yun? kasi when he tried to drain the pressure hose with the steering pump running.. it's sucking in the steering fluid from the rack and pinion.. masira ba ang rack and pinion when you turn it without fluid??

that happened to my sorento. flushing lang ng steering fluid kasi dark color na (same as in your case). wala na sa tamang viscosity yung fluid kaya matigas sa first few minutes. after napalitan ng fluid ok na ulit siya.

Something could be blocking the flow of the fluid. Then when the fluid heats up a bit, the blockage softens and allows more flow. Just a guess.

Lots of team fd peeps bring their cars to benmawi motors in biņan. That's the go to shop of fd owners because their staff are former honda casa techs

    anong meaning ng 'team fd'?

Yun service center ko.. not only hindi sila marunong mag flush ng steering fluid.. hindi rin sila marunong mag bleed ng air sa steering system. I have air in my rack and pinion for 2 days after they put air in the system because of incorrect draining.. sabi nila normal lang yun...

I was googling kanina "can air in rack and pinion cause leak"... ask ko lang (mga people na alam nito).. is there any O-rings or gasket inside the rack and pinion where air can produce metal to gasket contact cutting a hole in the gasket or O-rings? which part inside a rack and pinion can this occur??

just to clarify bro, ano bang honda car ang pinag-uusapan natin? kasi sakit din ang power steering assembly ng civic fd at doon nga sa benmawi ang go to shop ng team fd

My car is Honda CRV 2004...

2 years ago nag leak ang rack and pinion... at sabi ng Car Zone sa Banawe ay mga tama na gear at waha na kuwenta so tinapun ko yun original and buy their replacement at 20k.. now 2 years later.. Honda found out nag leak replacement.. I don't know if it's because of the air introduced by the mechanico last week when he did wrong draining method or talaga lifetime nya 2 years..

Sabi ng Honda kanina.. original rack & pinion ay 46k plus labor na 3500 installation so spend pa daw ako ng 50K for new rack and pinion... it's expensive considering luma na car ko.. and ayaw ko na bili surplus.. because before putting the replacement 2 year ago. Car Zone put 2 surplus and leak agad in a row..

So ano options ko now? Tinapun na original Honda rack and pinion (I found out today puwede pala repair kit or sandpaper or machine shop if may tama).. and replacement na lang natira nakainstall sa akin And I don't want to take chances buying surplus again..

Hmm.. puwede be convert hydraulic rack and pinion ko sa CRV 2004 to Electric rack and pinion para wala na hydraulic and leak problem? Sino marunong mag convert?

Mas masakit sa ulo to convert. In your position i'd probably try my luck again with original surplus unit (these cannot be overhauled?).

like i said before team fd peeps before were pretty satisfied w/ their work.it wouldn't hurt to ask honda experts in these matters at mabigyan ka ng options. as it is mukhang medyo nahihirapan ka makakakuha ng straight answers that'll satisfy you

    Bakit ayaw mo overhaul?

Many service centers (including the one in Laguna suggested and even Honda) keep saying if meron na tama.. mag leak kahit new seal.. how true is it?

try mo pa-rechrome kung talagang wala ka budget. sa may p. tuazon sa cubao, forgot the name of the shop, they do chrome plating.

mga gaano katagal kaya chrome plating? they also do bigger rod diameter?

true, ganyan yung naging trouble nung sta fe nung client ng kakilala kong mechanic. nagkaroon ng micro 'bulutong' yung piston ng brake caliper. kabaguhan pa nung sta fe nun kaya wala pa available parts kahit sa casa. order pa daw abroad and it would take so much time at hindi na makapaghintay yun owner.

chrome dazzler yung nasa p. tuazon iirc.
