February 2nd, 2004 09:43 AM #1Hi All!
a new chapter on my ride's lingering brake problem...
i was going through the usual traffic along metropolitan ave., when suddenly i felt the brakes didn't feel right; halos dumikit na sa sahig ung brake pedal before my ride stopped. Parang me naririnig akong ugong whenever i step down on the brakes real fast.
i turned off the aircon para marinig ko ng maayos...a few moments after, the brakes seem to return to its old behavior. After getting home and popping the hood, ok naman ung brake fluid level
this isn't the first time it's happened though; somehow i've managed to get home without any dents(or worse)...still, common sense dictates to not push my luck B).
comments? kung me kilala ring kayong shops that specialize in brakes, papost na rin. thx!

Baka po may hangin or water contaminaion ang fluids. When was your last brake fluid change?

siguradong hangin yan o kaya tubig...ipa-bleed mo ang brakes mo..o kaya mas maganda palit ng brake fluid...

agree with Sirs Ungas and Bench, have them bled maybe that will solve the problem.

February 2nd, 2004 11:11 AM #6not just bleed siguro... pa-flushing mo na yung buong brake system. this is recommended din naman by case once super dumi na ng brake fluid mo.
bring a liter or a bit more of dot 3 fluid kasi you have to use it to flush all of the contaminants out

Sir Speedy,
when they flush the fluid lines, padadaanan lang ba ng Dot 3 fluid or they also blow air sa brake lines, or something like that?

I just remembered, pag drum brakes ang likod, baka may tagas sa seals. Pag may tagas ito, mababasa ang pads that can also cause the brakes to work prematurely.
Palinisan mo na tuloy mga brake pads, and check those nifty rubbers inside.

February 2nd, 2004 12:02 PM #9Thanks all for the replies...
Last october 03 kc pinapalit ko ung rubber seals sa rear drum brakes ko...it was earlier diagnosed na me tagas nga. Di na naman sya nagleak ever since...syempre pasabay na ung pagpalit ng brake fluid...pero parang di yata naiflush.
Dun pa lang e napansin na ni Alvin( chieffy's mekaniko) that the brakes on one side of the car didn't seem to be working...duda nya ung brake cylinder me diperensya, so medyo inadjust nya, and told me to monitor the brakes.
Since then, medyo umOK na sya, pero sinusumpong pa rin
Ano ba ung steps involved sa flushing? Kelangan ba ng special chemical solvent, or just plain old dot 3 brake fluid?
Di naman kaya ballooning ng brake lines?

could be ur brake lines or hoses. those hoses get brittle when they age..thus resulting to balooning which eventually leads to more brake problems.
btw since where talking about brakes..can you peeps recommend a shop that specializes in repair/troubleshooting of brake problems? excluding the casa of course.
Has anyone of you tried buying or installing front bumper that's made in taiwan (yung...
