what are the symptoms of a leaking shock absorber (fluid type)? meron ba talagang liquid type na lumalabas dun sa shock pag may leak na ito? will a leaking shock cause noise while the car is in motion?

    rockyme,

Yup, oil will leak out of it. Even good shocks produce sounds sometimes.

Leaking shocks could be easily checked by accumulated moist dust around the rod seal area. It would be better if you wipe of the grimes first then drive a block or two to check for the oil leaks around it.

    ungas, thanks!

i have a pretty old car, a singkit. wanting to install surplus shocks na lang since this is an old car (in fairness makinis pa syang tingnan at matibay pa, aside from the shocks). :D is it advisable to do so?

I would not advise the surplus shocks since you can't ba sure how long they will last. My dad had one installed in our car once at pinagsisihan niya 3 months later. If tight ang budget then go for the good replacements like KYB. :D

rockyme::: Never buy those surplus shocks. I have the same point of view with roydok & pajerokid. You will just regret buying those useless shocks. It may sound cheaper but your peso will run as short as you'd expect it.
I asked an auto supply friend for the price and its almost the same price as zildjian posted.

    2000 each front / 1500 each rear

    rockyme,

pwede sa akin or sa atco. free delivery depende kung saan location mo.

labor price is usually P350 each side. mas maganda painstall mo sa mga shops na may 4 wheel alignment para diretso alignment na.

    zildjian, thanks!

i've also read that you can change the oil seal and replace timing belt. how much would the labor cost? sa tingin ko may leak na rin makina ko kse there's an oil seepage.

    please advise.

    thanks!

i actually have a mechanic who can do the job though on schedule basis din. labor is P500 for timing belt replacement kaso lang malayo location namin dito sa gentri cavite. kapag sa labas yata ay mga P1000 to P1500 ang labor para sa timing belt.

    Sir Zildjian,

Naalala mo ba last time nang kumuha ako nang OEM na shock..... hayun kumuha sila sa Toyota Manila Bay. Nong magpalit kami nang gulong (coz na flat) tinitingnan ko yung shock i just found out na yung naka tatak ai KYB. Ito ba talagang brand name na makikita sa OEM na shock or ginulangan naman yung Esmi ko sa CASA?
