September 23rd, 2017 08:05 AM #1Good morning mga Tsikoteers. I just have a question/s. The handbrake light on my dash intermittently going on for some time now. Ngayon ko lang na experience eto sa tagal ko na ng d drive. Based sa owners manual have it checked sa authorize mitsu serviceman. Napansin ko na umilaw ung light when I had to do a sudden brake na dahil may tumawid na pusang gala sa kalsada, tapos minsan kahit gradual braking umiilaw din siya. Minsan meron minsan wala. Is this warning light connected to:
1. worn out brake pads - lately naririnig ko na may parang grinding/squeeling sound everytime I step on the brake.
2. dirty brake fluid/low level brake fluid - medyo maitim na fluid sa tank and nearing low level na,
Your inputs will be much appreciated. More power

age of car? last time the brake pads were changed?
1. some brake pads have wear indicator. they make a screeching sound when it needs replacement.
2. brake fluid should be clear. if not its time for a replacement with proper bleeding.
3. hand brake normally has 5-6clicks. if its more, adjustment has to be made...

Based on your stated concern, the brake fluid warning is telling g you it is low. Your brake fluid is recommended to be replaced every two years regardless of the mileage(see owner's manual).
The noise everytime you apply the brakes is attributed to the worn out brake pads.
Have it serviced soon.

September 24th, 2017 01:33 PM #5Silipin mo yung brake fluid reservoir baka kailangan na dagdagan ng brake fluid. Ugaliin mo mag flush out at magpalit ng fresh na brake fluid every 2 years. Ganyan ginawa ko sa corolla bigbody ko nuon. Palit brake pads at brake shoes lang kasi normal na nauupod naman yun. Hindi ako nakaranas ng leaking brake fluid hanggang mabenta ko sya after 10years.

If it's a 90s car and na check mo naman na hindi nababawasan break fluid, another culprit for that behavior is busted brake tail lights.

If you're referring to Toyota's light failure warning system, the amber in color warning on the dash will be on at all times if the current to the tail/brake lights is low. The TS's car is a Mitsubishi and the warning light only turns on intermittently when he applies the brakes or when the brake fluid sloshes on sudden deceleration.
