    hi,

i am trying to isolate a previously humming sound from my car. what i did so far was tire rotation, corrected tire inflation, and re-balanced all four wheels. the humming was gone now, but i am left with a grrrrrr sound on the driver side even on a very good asphalted road. thing here is, i only get that sound at 30kph.

my wheels are bridgestone turanza gr80. from the looks of several guys from different tire stores and even those who are not from tire stores say that the rubber is still thick. car is only daily driven, no tracking

    any more ideas?

try to turn up your stereo's volume when running * 30kph.

kidding aside, check the wheel bearing or still your tires... i used to have that problem grr sound at the driver side... ang talas ng mata ng mechanic ko. he said it was due to my uneven tire. talagang may mga defective tires na nabibili. so i replaced the left front tire, problem solved. try mo lang maybe it's the same case.

try checking your brake pads ... or yung rotor disc mo may tama na .....

pwede rin wheel bearing pero ... more likely sa brake ang problem mo

sir, just to clarify what do i need to check on the brakes? what do you mean by "may tama."

just this weekend, i decided to clean the calipers by removing the pads, shims, clips and slide pins. pinanlinis is just toothbrush to take away the brake dust. liha ng onti sa pads, regrease the slide/guide pins, then return everything... clips, shims, pads. bolts were even retorqued to facotry specs with a torque wrench...

what could have been wrong here?

masama ba na nililiha ang brake pads?

sinervisan recently yung calipers just to check for leaks (all rubber components are good and not torn) - wala naman nakita. the slide pins and guide pins were not rusted or scrached and were greased prior to bolting back. pati yung clips nilinis by just toothbrush. the only thing na medyo intrusive na ginawa is niliha ng onti yung pads bago binalik. yung liha is just enough to expose new surface. so far ang nilagyan lang ng high temp grease e yung guide pin saka slide pin. walang pyesang pinalitan

anything not good here? yung pagliha na ginawa is nilagay yung sandpaper sa sahig (smooth naman yung sahig) tapos dun kinaskas yung pads (flat naman ang pag kaskas).

is it alright to have my rotor refaced even w/o changing the pads? from the looks kasi, makapal pa ang pads ko, pero parang solar system na yung rotor... kitang kita at ramdam yung "orbits" na paikot.

ang manipis kasi according to the manual is 2mm. ang pads ko more than 8mm pa

i had my car aligned. kita lahat ng gulong ko nakaturo sa labas :o

as seen also from the tires, sawtooth ang kain sa loob ng goma. sabi ng nag-align, most probably nga daw e gulong yung ugong. less likely daw na wheel bearing, pero observe parin daw. mag-rotate daw ako madalas para mahabol pa yung upod although malapit narin ako magpalit ng goma. aabot pa naman daw kahit sa december this year.

grrrrr at 30kph on asphalted road
