hi guys! im new here. actually i joined to know if someone could help me with my car. My car is a 2nd hand 2004 toyota altis. i have a problem with my power steering reservoir just this last friday. I saw kasi na biglang naubos ang power steering ko and may sound sya. Dinala ko sya sa Rapide first and they lifted up the car, nakita ko na may leak sya pero dinala ko na lang sa toyota makati, and it's almost a week na sya dun. first, nung monday, they told me na ang papalitan
is yung kit ng rack, and they gave me an estimate of 6k plus ang magagastos. I agreed and I was kampante naman with the toyota makati na matatapos sya this thursday. SO now, it's thursday na and they called me sa office, saying na ang papalitan naman ngayon is yung buong rack and pinion daw, which is costing a whooping P53K!. They even told me na pinasok daw ng tubig ang system and sira na at kailangang palitan ang rack and pinion Pinahold ko muna yung repairing and Tinanong ko ang daddy ko cuz marami syang alam sa kotse. He told me na di naman basta basta masisira yun, besides it's still almost a brand new car pa naman dahil it's 2004 model. Papalitan lang daw yun ng oil seal ba yun or kit. I decided to pull-out n lang yung car ko and get another diagnose and opinion s ibang car shop. What else pa kaya ang problem why is it leaking?

lipat siguro ito sa workshop. or better search for threads with same topic.

btw, 35K is a lot of pesoses for a leaky steering gearbox. tama si daddy. oil seal lang yan. the challenge is to find a mechanic who knows how to fix it.

yung sa akin nasa mekaniko pa rin for a back job

Had my steering fixed around a year ago at Cruven. Hindi nga lang PS yung sakin, but they should be able to handle yours.

I saw kasi sa internet and okay daw gamitin yun dahil nakakawala ng leak...salamaT

yung power steering stop leak is only applicable when your gaskets are already brittle (which makes you loose PS fluid slowly). it reconditions again the gaskets so that it would not too hard.

Okay naman pag turn right.

After driving for 150km straight nag leak sya.

Kung pump ang problem dapat matigas right man o left. Baka nasa packing ang problem.

    Any advice guys?

Just need to add. If I let go of the wheel while moving, the car tends to steer to the right. Tires have newly been aligned.

if you have no power assist in one direction only, have the valve body of the assembly checked or cleaned. you may have some sticky valve inside that prevents some pressurized fluid from going to the side of the hard steer.

this may actually become some sort of an overhaul of the rack and pinion assembly since you are going to open up the assembly.

i think the pump is ok as what the other said.
