    Hi Guys,

I'm planning to put KYB's sa fronts ng altis ko. Tho all my shocks are kyb gas already (OEM). Its not as stiff as the aftermarket KYBs.

Is it okay if I just replace the fronts only? Thats where the balance comes from anyway. Rear stiffness is fine with me, besides, may mga balikbayan ako darating this month.

What are my options? May KYB excel G for the fronts selling for 3.5k each. May mga cheaper KYBs pa ba na okay or is it just the Excel G?

    TIA

Yeah, the OEM KYBs (made in Thailand) aren't as stiff as the KYBs from Japan (Excel-G). I found that rather sad fact when I replaced my set a few months back and slapped on lowering spings. Tho swabe pa rin yung ride, mas matagtag kesa nung dati akong nakalowering springs at OEM shocks.

Anyhow, yes, you can replace just the fronts. I think the rule of thumb in replacing shocks is to do it for both the left and the right at the same time. The front and the rear can be replaced independently. Nga lang, in my case before, parehong right ang bumigay, so I ended up replacing all 4. Argh!

Where are you based? And where are you sourcing your KYBs from?

I'm just curious. Why would you want stiffer shocks for your sedan? Di ba tatagtag pag ganun?

Medyo duda ako sa Ginza but to tell you the truth those are the brand of rear shocks we're using in the MB100 for the past year na siguro. No complaints. But the brand is relatively unknown so I wouldn't recommend it yet.

Thanks for the replies guys. Nalalambutan kasi talaga ako sa kyb thailand made. Mas may control ang KYB na japan.

    Jay,
I'll list down your number just in case kukuha ako. Was able to ask around and price range in 3.5k to 4k. Thanks.

Try canvassing from Partstar. It's an auto supply in Pasay that sells OEM parts for Hondas. Coming from Makati, take EDSA towards the Mall Of Asia but turn right at Taft Ave. Not too far from the corner you will see their store to your right. Here's the address & contact #s:
    Partstar Automotive Inc.
    2762 Taft Avenue Extension
    Pasay City, Manila, Philippines
    Tel: (632) 8319383, 5110446, 5110447
    Fax: (632) 8319382
    Web: http://www.partstar.com.ph

They also have a branch in Alabang along the Alabang-Zapote Road near Toyota Alabang, I just forgot the name of their store there.

Good choice, ung kilala namin shop mas maganda daw ang SURPLUS kasi pareho lang din. Pag gamit ko yung luma, sus sa mga hindi flat na road ang tagtag sobra.

    Iba talaga pag original.

Merong mga sinasabing "Fake" na KYBs. Could these be the original Thailand KYBs lang instead of counterfeit ones?

Ipa-restore mo na lang yan sa Cruven. Php800/shock. I was there in Cruven Sucat a week back at ok naman yung restoration ng front shocks ng Altis ko.

In my experience, Cruven/Zee shock absorber repairs would not last a year.
