Hi, I have this issue na pag nag preno ako may squeking sound. I thought it was a brake pad problem so I had it checked by a mechanic and had it replaced by the LKC brand per his recommendation and he also recommended refacing the rotor as there are grooves already but even with a smooth rotor it still squeaks. Do you think I should replaced it with Bendix?

^bro need mo hanapin cause ng sound
kahit mabagal meron? baka may tinatamaan yan sa pang ilalim, like nakausli stab link or yun parang shroud ng rotor.

try mo angat yub wheel individually then spin, start from there. madali lang ma trace yan [emoji106][emoji106]

Akebono is cheaper than Genuine Car manufacturer pads, the reason behind it is because all of the Japanese car manufacturers like Toyota, Nissan, Mitsubishi, Suzuki, Mazda, Honda, Daihatsu, Isuzu, Subaru, Lexus, Acura, Infinity and etc... buy their brake pads from Akebono since more than 60% of the Japanese cars and trucks are factory installed with Akebono brake systems.

Akebono sells the products under their brand name so it gets cheaper than Genuine Pads since there is no longer any profit margin from the BIG CAR manufacturers.
For example Akebono -> Toyota Parent company -> Toyota dealers = of course Toyota puts a significant amount of profit on parts since they have alot of operating costs to employees sustain.
2nd example Akebono -> Authorized distributor -> Retail Shop = cheaper cost and smaller margins due to lower operating costs and etc...

the mechanic used their specialized, home-made tool, to push the cylinder back.
and since i had never topped off the reservoir since new, none spilled, and i did not have to top it off after the new pads were installed.
Tip: Whenever the brake pistons are pushed-back, always open the bleeder valve to let the old fluid come out. This way the old fluid which is usually the dirtiest part (due to heat cycles and brake fluid being hygroscopic collects water in air which is denser than oil that sits in the bottom of brake plumbing and corrode the metal parts) will be flushed-out. But of course most backyard mechanic will get your brake friction material replaced without bleeding because its tight in there and its hard to find the appropriate sized flare-nut wrench for the bleeder valve.

A possible reason why you hear squeaking sound whenever you use your brake pads would be due to worn pads, glazed pads and rotors, lack of pad insulation or isolation shims, incorrect rotor surface cut or broken anti-rattle clips. I strongly recommend to visit your trusted car shop to have your car diagnosed and further check by a mechanic upon knowing its possible cause to provide the best solution. Hope this helps!

I've read here that most of you recommend Bendix brake pads. But I want to know if Bosch brake pads are any good/better than the former.
I've use this kind of pads until now ok nmn siya, pansin ko lang pag nababasa ng tubig ulan medyo maingay btw sa Lancer ex ko xa nakakabit.

    Thank you,

Mga sir sa Toyota casa ako nagpa adjust ng breaks ko for my Fortuner 2016 and the personnel said na yung front wheels have 8mm thick left while yung back 4mm. Just about 3 months ago, they checked and yung front 8mm yung back 5mm. From the last time ako nagpacheck around 24000km ang ODO ko and ngayon 26800km.

Problema kaya sa driving style ko? How low po ba in terms of mm (thickness) kailangan ko na magpalit ng break pads...

Mag out of warranty na sya by May 2019, so kung pagpagawa ako for sure sa labas ng kasa na. What brand is good aside sa toyota brand?

    use until it squeals...

8 brake pads... if the sliders(aka caliper pins)(greased) and fluid are ok. the brake system should last long because the weight is evenly distributed..

    the figures are fine.
front pads usually wear twice as fast as rear shoes.

    and stock is right.
replace when they start making squeals.
the noise-making mechanism is built into the design.
or, if you like, you can take a peek once in a while. hassle lang.

Try to look for Akebono, Advics, Brembo. Advics ang OEM ng toyota para sa fortuner.

    EBC GREEN

    Front

    Rear

The pads were installed just this morning. The old, stock pads are already thin. In fact, I heard a loud squealing sound last week. Knowing that the ordered pads will be arriving soon, I decided to remove the "metal sound indicator".

I couldn't make an objective comparison with the stock pads vs EBC Green. I didn't try hitting the brakes full and measure its stopping distance with the stock pads.

However, one thing I noticed is that EBC Green is quiet. There is no noticeable dragging sound.

I plan to do brake bedding tomorrow evening on my way to Bataan but the leaflet says,

"After approximately 200 miles of urban use, using the brakes severely ONLY IN AN EMERGENCY, commence the final bed-in of the pads by decelerating from 60 mph to 20 mph at least 5 times on a quiet safe environment."

Since I usually do highway driving most of the time, I don't think I can easily reach that distance and most probably I'll forget about it.

My question now is, should I commence the bed-in tommorow evening as planned?

By the way, I bought the pads from Fil Ichiban.

The guy is willing to accept a small downpayment and the rest to be paid upon delivery.

Grats! The stock Akebono pads are no slouch, hence, relative to Greens, you might not notice much performance difference. I'm happy w/ the Reds. Very reasonably priced off Amazon. How much did these set you back, brother Archer?

So, the stock pads for Mazda 6 is Akebono? Red isn't available, according to the guy. Another thing, I'm a bit paranoid with online transactions. A bit of old school here.

Fil Ichiban gave it at 6500 for the front pads and 6000 for the rear pads. Way cheaper when compared to "stealership".

It is priced the same with the other guy, and I won't mention his name, but wants full payment upon order. The obvious choice to do business is with Fil Ichiban.

If ever I decide for the Red, should I change the rotor?

Yes, I've never done any brake bedding since I've learned how to drive. Do they teach this on driving schools? Most probably not and besides, there were no schools when I started to drive a few years ago.

My concern started when I noticed some marks on the rotors and it so happened that I have read about brake bedding on the Mazda 6 forum. The car has 44,000 km approximately at the moment.

Since I race the car once in a while, I have decided that I should do brake bedding.

    Hi guys,

Any recommended brake pads? Asked Mazford2 and yung OE brake pads for mazda3 will total around 11K php front and rear.

Will also check if brembo, EBC or icer is a good alternative. Any feedback on those? Thanks!

OEM Brembo is good for its price. Bendix or Project Mu are more affordable than Brembo. If you don’t mind spending around 3k to 4k, go for Brembo.

Been on EBC Redstuff for a while now. Better bite, less dust than OE Akebonos.[emoji106] The 2020's factory pads are from ATE.
