My nearly 4 year old Forester's aircon conked out a few weeks ago. Parang fan na lang. I went to Coolmate in Makati and was told that there's a leak in the evaporator. Had to change it. They said it's common daw for Foresters.

4 years for a stock aircon, bilis masira ah. Mukhang nag-concentrate lang ang Subaru engineers sa engine performance something na hindi magagamit ngaun coz of worsening traffic

on short trips i turn off the AC and just open the sunroof(windows still closed), i like the sun on my head and back..

Owners recommend cleaning the cabin filter regularly to help prolong the life of the evaporator. You can DYI it if you have the time. Not sure if the 2014 models still have it behind the glove box.

My evaporator leaked as well a few months ago. Had it replaced at MI since it was already there for some maintenance.

My Fozzie is 5 years old and the evaporator was around 20k. You could probably source a cheaper one; I just didn't have the time to go around looking for one.

Thanks. Based on feedbacks here,- 4 -5 years bumigay ang evaporator. I just reach 1.5 years on the fozzy so may panahon pa mag ipon.

interesting.. why would the evap leak... is it just the welds or pipes?
