i know what you mean about letting go of the dogs, hirap talaga nyan .

sorry, di kita masyadong matulungan sa problems na na-encounter ng mga owners ng forester and legacy, kasi wala pa akong first hand experience eh. my forester is one year old, wala pa rin problema, same with my dad's 2000 forester, very reliable kasi sila. pero, here's a couple of forums that may help you find your answers.

Count me in!!! I am currently driving a 1998 BG5 Subaru Legacy i bought at Commonwealth Autocenter. The Subaru is a very safe and durable car. For almost 8 years that i have been driving it, hitting the road has been a passion.

Test drove both the Forester 2.0X and 2.5XT last Saturday Sept 16. Forester 2.0X was slightly faster than my Civic VTi-S, revs fast up to 7000rpm. Autoshifter is okay but could be a bit smoother. Power and torque are "just enough". Ride and handling are great.

Forester 2.5XT was really great. 0-100kph in so short a time. Torque delivery is smooth, it build ups until the car upshifts. Shifting is smoother than with the 2.0X. Ran out of road along EDSA as I have to take a U-turn to bring the car back. Power and torque more than enough. Ride is a bit harsh. Now, the question is this: Is the extra P400k worth the 2.5XT (from P1.25M for the 2.0X)? If I had the money I'll get the 2.5XT.

Mel of Motor Image EDSA was very nice (cute) and helpful. You should look for her if you want a test drive. (7278333 local 124).

If the XT that is being sold there is the same here in the U.S. it will have the turbo engine so for me it is worth the extra money. The only downside is, it would require at least a 91 octane compared to a non turbo. Plus mas malakas sa gas ang turbo engine.

people i need your input on the ff. coz i'm considering the forester 2.5xt.

    - how is the service level of the subaru dealer in EDSA?
    - are they the "only" spare parts supplier for subarus?
    - how is the a/c unit of the subarus in general? the forester?

Brought my car in for the 1.6k Kms PMS last Monday. Quick service pero labor lang pala free. Oil and other items used cost me P3.8k. Idling also seems rougher and more variable after the PMS. Planning to bring it back to have this checked.

Aircon is more than enough to keep everyone cool in the scorching summer heat. The compressor supposedly turns itself off when the car senses you want to accelerate as fast as possible but I haven't noticed this.

My only complaint is that the beige carpeting gets dirty very very easily.

Overall, still very happy with my purchase.
