I test drove the wrx last week along white plains. Ho humm . Wasnt impressed by the speed or acceleration. No kick. The CVT even in paddle shift mode feels wierd. Otherwise its very nicely kitted. Looks like my forester XT inside with a few additional changes to the guages and extra pages on the lcd screen. No panoramic roof though. Was in sport and sport# modes.

So... the slurring as with the FXT CVT is still there, huh?

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

it's a stupid ass idea to put in a cvt on the wrx. such a disappointment just like the sti a-line. anyway MI is willing to bring the wrx m/t by order, 1st batch is arriving august.

In manual mode,it doesnt upshift at the redline so there is some jerkiness there if you leave your shifts too late .....

Also, downshifts dont give much drama or kick but i felt lots of jerkiness with my head snapping forward and backwards. The effect is unnerving. Kawawa your passengers. Never had this with downshifts in the Legacy . The CvT is the culprit i am sure. Manual mode in the FxT as well sucks balls after the novelty of 8 virtual gears wears off.

I never left in on automatic mode when going full throttle. Maybe that would help but it would be boring as there was no driver interactivity.

My Legacy with its ancient 5-speed automatic feels much much faster (though the comparison is a bit unfair as mine is tuned).

My beef with the tranny in the FXT is that, yeah... the 8-speed mode is not that responsive, and if you're caning it down a winding road, it starts slurring as you pour on the power. Never had that issue with the non-turbo Fozzie or the XV.

Agree, *foresterx: They should have stuck to a traditional 6-speed auto for the WRX... would suit its character much better.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Wanted to add...... And with a CVT, no one will really tune their WRX for more power. Theyd be too scared to fry the transmission.

I’m the newbie to the Subie, and I got the new WRX. Cvt or not, I have to say it’s a stepup for me, coming from two Civics (both stick, too).

Yes, it’s a cvt, so it’s not as quick off the line as you’d like. Fun starts at 2500rpm in the “tall” Sport mode, where that flat torque curve to around 5500 accelerates the widening of your grin without much effort as you mash your way along SLEX from Sta Rosa to Makati, like I do everyday. The “shifts” are palpable. Don’t get me wrong; I would’ve gotten my hands on a manual if it was available, but when the crawl starts from Nichols to Magallanes, you’ll realize the cvt guys were on to something. I find the “close-ratio” SportSharp (using paddles) is best for the twisties. Man can this thing turn!

Just for the exercise, the car will do 9.5 to even 10 km/liter in Intelligent mode, highway/city combined. I have a semi-lead foot, so the 8 to 9 figure in Sport applies more. So far I’ve gotten it up from 120 to 180 in the time it takes you to say “Yeeeeeeeeehaaaah!” And it does go from 0 to 100 in 6 seconds. By the way, I always turn off traction control.

Yes, it has a real spare tire. Yes, there’s a flat spot after the first “shift” from a standstill, which you somehow manage/negate by mashing and keeping the throttle above 40% or so. Yes, the headlights are rather EvoX-ish. Who cares? I love it.

And yes, I got mine in black.

Somebody mentioned a manual coming this August. Pa-drive ha.
    Peace.

Although hinde ito ang nakuha namin na car, yun WRX sana gusto namin ni misis. Kaso kulang sa budget. Meron kami nakita sa SM Dasma na maliit na showroom nila.

Check mo mga site at FB page nila if hanap ka saan makabili:

My 2015 WRX STI premium just clocked in 700kms today and so far no problems whatsoever. ECU issues are a few and those are isolated ones. IMO, the paint problems are mostly caused by the users themselves. I also have this problem when I accidentally hit something every time I open the door or trunk.

Here are my pros and cons about the 2015 wrx sti.

    pros:

    1. fast and powerful
    2. AWD with a superb suspension and much grip on the road. hydraulic steering is responsive.
    3. SI drive
    4. rumbling exhaust sound
    5. fun to drive on long road trips
    6. lots of hi-tech goodies (LED auto HL, keyless alarm with door handle sensor, start/stop button, moon roof and etc)

    cons:

    1. heavy clutch pedal
    2. stiff suspension not for daily drive
    3. fuel consumption (well this is a sports car anyway) 15.6L/100kms
    4. minor rattles on some plastic parts in the interior
    5. whistling sound coming from the rear spoiler during high speed runs above 180kph

Overall, all the cons were negated by the fun and excitement being experienced by me driving my STI so I would highly recommend to you to get the 2015 WRX STI premium.

Thank you Sir aintnimra, everything is spot on, halos yan din mga nabasa ko. Sa clutch pedal sa tingin ko naman hindi siya kasing bigat ng 2013 na ranger or kasing ganit ng civic fd nung nag test drive ako, although sandali lang yun. Another question sir, 700kms so hindi ka pa tapos mag break in? Again, thank you Sir.
