Well, if you read the article you posted comprehensively...the highest rating given for the gasoline category is SL which was first given out 2004 but still in current circulation right now, which I can understand because theres not much difference or should I say theres No new revolutionizing technology that has higher lubricating requirements unlike with the commonrail technology in the diesel engine scene. infact its only difference with the highest rated oil today for gas engines which is the SM is that it hasalso introduced in the same year 2004....and for the diesel category, its CF2 which is labeled obsolete by the API and which is said to only be suitable for two stroke engines as indicated here---->http://www.api.org/certifications/en..._March2010.pdf which I already posted above....improved oxidation resistance, improved deposit protection, better wear protection, and better low-temperature performance
and if your asking if I think the oils in that article you posted is obsolete,
I want to expound on that....YES I do and I do not...
I do not, because for the gasoline engine oil category most of the oils in that article is still in current production and sale....within the SL and SJ certification...
and I do, because with regards to the diesel engine category none of it even meets the lowest certification today which is CH-4 and worse, it is even two levels behind it...
Now, if you are wondering why you can still see the same oil brands and grades in the market, because they have REFORMULATED those oils to comply with modern engine demands especially on diesel engines and to the API certification and licensing system....So technically it is not right to say that the current oils that is on sale today from those brands has the same formulation way back when that article was published...
ninong arvs, ask ko lang, san sa california yung uncle mo? dun ba sa mainit or malamig na part? hehehe![]()
