BOSBs, docglen and I are going to Cebu on 20-23 June 2008 to get our Advance Open Water Certification! We will leave on June 20, Friday, via the 7:30 pm PAL flight and will be back on June 23 Monday, 8 pm PAL flight. The cost for the lessons is roughly 10K per person and that will include 5 dives, including a night and a wreck dive! Those who are interested, post your questions here or PM me or docglen... Sarap nito! Domo Arigato!
sarap nga doc, i had a good time yesterday. pero victim ako kahapon ng murphy's law. first two dives namin, may major leak/defective yung gauge na nabigay sa akin. while madami pa si docglen na air, paubos na agad yung hangin ko kaya i was forced to go out of the water earlier than the rest of the group. then we went back to the resort to have our lunch and to replace my regulators. ok naman yung buffet, hehehe. then dun sa third dive namin, i had difficulty maintaining the agreed dive depth, it turned out na defective naman yung inflator ng bcd ko. every breath i take, may pumupuntang hangin sa bcd kaya pataas ako ng pataas!

Looking forward to those pictures soon! thanks.
Ano na kaya nangyari sa Cebu dive nila sirs ThePatriarch and docglen?Mukhang binagyo sila ah.
we survived and conquered typhoon Frank!
we arrived at cebu on friday, June 20, around 9 pm... the flight was so bumpy, docglen was nervous during the whole time... signal #1 kaya when we landed in cebu! buti na lang our dive instructor fetched us from the airport. then we went out sa 'happy strip' ng cebu... bahala na kayo mag-isip! hahaha
saturday, june 21, the weather did not improve. we opted to have a shore dive for our first two mandatory dives (deep dive and underwater navigation) of our advance course since wala kaming makuhang bangka na foolish enough like us to dive at that weather. the people at scuba world where we got our tanks gave us a quizzical look na parang gustong magtanong kung may death wish kami, hehehe. both dives were ok, after 5 meters, the water was calmer and visibility was ok.
sunday, june 22, the sun came up! after a few calls made by our dive instructor, may nakuha siyang bangka kaya go na kami! wreck dive ang first elective namin for the advance course and we were delighted to see an airplane wreck in mactan, cebu sa depth of 22 meters. however, the current was strong, buti na lang naka-gloves kami ni docglen (I was forced to hold sa body nung airplane). so para na rin kaming nag drift dive, 2 in 1 ang dating.
second elective dive namin on june 22 was the peak bouyancy dive. the boatman allowed us to enter a marine sanctuary for free and even allowed docglen to bring his camera with him to take some pictures! we did some difficult exercises underwater (swimming forward with your head inverted and pointing at the bottom while your feet was pointing upwards, swimming backwards, etc.) but after that exhausting dive, we are still looking forward for our night dive.
unfortunately, while we were waiting for the sunset and eating our early dinner, bigla umulan ng malakas with matching winds. when we were about to consider aborting the night dive, bigla tumigil ang ulan and nag-calm ang waves! ganun kabilis! so natuloy ang much awaited night dive namin to complete our advance course. gandang experience because there are marine animals that go out only at night and that is the only time to observe them.
Glennie Boy, post mo na pics!here is the link to our dive instructor's blog site for a few of our pics http://www.divephilippines.blogspot.com/
Great summary atty. Grabe, mga addict nga kayo. Hope to dive with you all soon...Save lang money and aral conti.
hehe, nakaka-addict talaga. Glennie Boy (docglen) is now considering taking the rescue diver and EFR course... ipon muna ng konti pero ultimate dream namin is to dive at tubbataha reef!
for sale pala for those who are starting to complete their diving gear on a tight budget... scubapro BCD and oceanic regulators for only 15k (new ones would cost you at least 900-1,000 US$). Both item is used but in good working condition, the owner brings them for service and cleaning every 5 dives! (medyo OC yung friend ko eh) PM me na lang if you are interested.
