Ginebra needs a system, structure to stick to win or lose, hinde na pwede larong kanto PBA ngayon, scientific na, hinde na pwede ala jawo...

With the manpower they have, they should be able to dominate PBA in the next 3 years at least and win couple of championship each year.

Uichico confirms Meralco making a bid to sign free agent Ildefonso

IF a much-anticipated reunion for the two Dannys doesn't take place at Talk 'N Text, sister team Meralco may most likely be at fault.

Meralco team consultant Jong Uichico bared to Spin.ph on Sunday that the Bolts management is now carefully evaluating the possibility of acquiring Danny Ildefonso, the longtime Petron star who became an unrestricted free agent when he was left unsigned on Saturday.

[For full story, see With one text message, Petron officially ends 15-year relationship with Ildefonso]

Spin.ph had earlier reported that Talk 'N Text is weighing the possibility of acquiring the two-time MVP just days after signing Danny Seigle, with whom Ildefonso won six championships during their time with the old San Miguel side.

But Uichico made it clear the Bolts are also in the race to acquire Ildefonso.

“The Danny I situation is on the table sa Meralco. But we have not made any decision yet,” said Uichico.

Uichico, who was the coach at San Miguel of the two Dannys, said he has already given his recommendation to Meralco management as well as his knowledge of what Ildefonso can give the Bolts.

Obviously, he wants Ildefonso in the team.

“Danny I is no longer the 30-minuter cager he was known for. Pero he can surely give us quality minutes and experience,” said the soft-spoken coach of the Philippine team tasked to defend the Southeast Asian Games gold medal in Myanmar later in the week.

Uichico made it clear he is leaving everything up to the management in as far as a decision on Ildefonso is concerned, but admitted the Bolts will be in a race - along with Talk n Text and other teams - to sign the former National University Bulldogs star.

“Since I am leaving for Myanmar on Wednesday, hopefully when I get back… something has already developed. Sana ...” said the eight-time champion coach.

“We will leave it up to the management to decide on that,” he added.

Asked about Meralco standing way of a much awaited reunion between the two Dannys at Talk 'N Text, Uichico said: “Hindi naman. Syempre, pwede naman sila magsama sa Talk 'N Text eh. I don’t know kasi yung pinag-uusapan sa Talk 'N Text. Pero kami pinag-uusapan namin si Danny I sa Meralco.”

Uichico said he is fond of both Ildefonso and Seigle, saying a big part of what he has achieved as a coach he owes to the two of them.

“The two Dannys are very close to my heart. They have some playing years left in them. Sila ang gumawa sa pangalan ko,” he added.

Petron rallies in the fourth, stays perfect with squeaker over Barako
By JOB B. DE LEON, GMA NewsDecember 4, 2013 7:54pm

The Petron Blaze Boosters established themselves atop the standings in the PLDT MyDSL 2014 PBA Philippine Cup by besting Barako Bull Energy Cola, 96-90, on Wednesday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

Trailing by nine late in the third quarter, Petron shook off the Energy with a 17-2 run spanning the latter two periods, 81-75. With Barako Bull's front line wearing thin due to foul trouble, the Boosters imposed their will inside to secure their fourth straight win.

The Boosters are the only team in the PBA with a clean loss column at 4-0, while Barako Bull evened their record at 2-2.

Marcio Lassiter unloaded a game-high 26 points, along with eight rebounds and four assists to lead Petron. Arwind Santos logged 19 points, while Paolo Hubalde had 15 markers. Last year's number one overall pick June Mar Fajardo tallied 11 points and 22 rebounds, while Chico Lanete scattered 10 points and four steals.

Paul Lee shoots Rain or Shine past San Mig Coffee in Friday thriller

Rain or Shine squandered an early double-digit lead before waking up in time to turn back San Mig Coffee, 86-83, in PLDT MyDSL Philippine Cup action on Friday at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

“We’re just lucky to get away with the win,” said Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao.

The game didn’t look like it was going to be a thriller early on, after Paul Lee scored 12 points in the first period that saw the Elasto Painters race to a 12-2 lead to begin the game.

But the Mixers slowly chipped away at the deficit, cutting the Rain or Shine lead to just four points, 38-34, at halftime.

San Mig Coffee even took the lead for an instant, 59-57, late in the third quarter before Rain or Shine regained the upper hand heading into the final period.

But the Mixers wouldn’t just go away, cutting the margin to a single point, 75-74, with less than four minutes left.

With Rain or Shine under fire, Lee nailed a three-pointer off the backboard to beat the shotclock buzzer, a shot that Guiao described as “a lucky shot.”

“That’s really our biggest break,” said Guiao.

That basket touched off an 8-2 run with Lee scoring all the points for the Elasto Painters that gave them an 83-76 lead with just 1:39 to play.

But San Mig Coffee was still not done. Mark Barroca, who finished with 23 points to lead the Mixers, hit a three-pointer to cut the Rain or Shine lead to just four, 83-79, with still 1:08 left.

The Mixers then forced a turnover, which Marc Pingris converted to cut the deficit to a single basket.

Jeff Chan scored two free throws for Rain or Shine, before Pingris hit another basket with 11 seconds remaining.

Gabe Norwood had a chance to ice the game, but he muffed two free throws, giving San Mig Coffee a golden opportunity. But Barroca missed a layup that could have tied the game with four seconds left, and Lee grabbed the rebound off the ring.

The Mixers sent Lee to the line, and the hotshot guard split his free throws. Joe Devance’s desperation shot at the buzzer failed to hit the target, allowing Rain or Shine to escape with the victory.

Lee finished with 26 points on 5-of-9 three-point shooting to break out of his conference-long slump. Chan added 11 points for the Elasto Painters, whose win-loss record improved to 4-1.

Peter June Simon scored 18 points for San Mig Coffee. Marc Pingris (12 points, 12 rebounds) and the returning Joe Devance (11 points, 11 rebounds) each had double-doubles for the Mixers, who lost for the fourth time in five games.
