With 10spd XT, you could get up to 4 clicks in one push. And you could up shift 2 at a time (big to small)
Interesting. I tried it now with my disconnected SLX and indeed it can do 3 clicks on one full stroke. Never got to try it before though when it was still connected to the bike, laging one click lang.

But now with the XT, I can only downshift consistently 2 gears. I did 3 clicks unintentionally last night but it wasn't enough to complete 3 downshifts - it went 3 gears down at first but then went then 1 gear up . I tried just now with the bike stationary, and it did 4 clicks but the 4th click took a lot of effort.

Have your chain length checked bro, a short chain would make downshifts stiff. Otherwise I'd say the shifter throw is long, thus requiring much effort.
