i suggest go to reputable bike shops, yung iba kasi pag nalaman na wala kang alam sa bike kung ano ilalagay. kings sa quiapo, ross sa cartimar are ok. they are cheaper compared to boutique bike shops kung naghahabol ka ng budget.
better budget 15k just to be sure. it does not end in getting the bike, you have to have helmet, water bottle or hydration pack, gloves etc
a bmw bike is just for display, i mean i wouldnt buy a car made by nokia unless bmw subcontracted a bike manufacturer then just put a bmw sticker

being a weight weenie does have significant advantages. i count in grams din, a 50g difference in part weight is substantial to me especially if it will come from the wheelset. if you ride in the 200km per day mileage on a mtbike a 200g inner tube will feel like a pound at the end of the day. if you're on a race gunning for podium and you've exhausted all your strenght and a guy is just at your heels running for your place, a 50g weight makes all the difference
a pro knows all about getting the best equipment. often misconception yung nasa indian yan wala sa pana, that is only good for recreational level. im no pro pero meticulous ako sa equipment ko because i want to get a high rank on races, training will only get you to a point, better equipment will push you further. the stronger you get the more you want to upgrade your parts, kaya kung nagtitipid ka wag kana magtraining kasi upgraditis bagsak mo niyan hahahaLast edited by miLes; May 19th, 2011 at 07:24 PM.

Got me a foldable bike last year, generic lang (Scott imitation) for 8k. Pang-recreation lang naman kasi, and since folding talaga yung habol ko, I can easily store it in the car if I want to bring it sa mga malalayong lugar. Dinala ko nga sa Glorietta once at work; when I unfolded it paglabas ng elevator sa parking, daming na-impress kasi full-size MTB pala, hehe.
Pag medyo nakaluwag-luwag, plano kong palitan halos lahat ng parts, ititira ko lang yung frame tsaka yung pedals. I already switched to road tires since hindi naman ako nagte-trail, hindi pa mabigat i-pedal sa pavement.Last edited by Bogeyman; May 22nd, 2011 at 02:44 PM.

I'm also planning to get a decent, pang-exercise MTB. There are so many brands to choose from.

Built bikes start from P15k - these have decent parts that will last you for years.
