a good read also. not to move down james but something like a reality check.

Perseverance pays off for Nowitzki, Mavs - NBA - Yahoo! Sports

Forever now. Once again, James was an uncertain, uneven star with a championship on the line. He didn’t play well in these Finals, and worst in the moments that the Heat needed him most. He didn’t want the ball in the fourth quarter, passing it away as fast as it had come to him.
Dirk Nowitzki celebrates with longtime teammate Jason Terry during the second half of Game 6 of the NBA Finals.

James will win championships, but he’ll never enjoy a moment so singularly pure as Nowitzki did. He’ll never have this connection to a franchise and a fandom, a communion of shared struggle and pursuit and angst. This is still Dwyane Wade’s(notes) town, and probably Wade’s team. One Eastern Conference star said, “Right now all he’s doing is helping D-Wade get his second ring.”

To hear James suggest that the world will have to return to its sad, little ordinary lives and he’ll still get to be LeBron James late Sunday night was a window into his warped, fragile psyche. It was sad, and portends to how disconnected to the world he truly is.

“They have to wake up and have the same life that they had before they woke up today … the same personal problems,” James said. “I’m going to continue to live the way that I want to live. … But they have to get back to the real world at some point.”

There’s nothing real about James’ world, and never has been. He’s a prisoner of a life that his sycophants and enablers and our sporting culture has created for him. He’s rich and talented and something of a tortured soul. He’s the flawed superstar for these flawed times. He’s a creation of a basketball breeding ground full of such twisted priorities and warped principles. Almost every person who’s ever had to work closely with him, who has spent significant time, who’s watched him belittle and bully people, told me they were rooting hard against him. That’s sad, and that’s something he doesn’t understand and probably never will.

When the game was over, his attitude was downright defiant. They had done enough to win, he insisted, and of course he was wrong.

Strange, but Chris Bosh(notes) knew the truth. When he talked about Nowitzki, you had to wonder to whom he was directing his words. “There’s nothing extra. There’s nothing super. [Nowitzki] was just himself. And in these situations, I think when you’re yourself and you play your basketball, the best thing always happen.

“He’s worked very hard, for a very long time and he deserves it. I think we can take a page out of their book and really just pay attention to people’s work ethic and how much time they put into the game. Obviously, what we did wasn’t enough.”

James had to believe in this. Even Bosh now understands the passion for the game.

sama mo pa si Wild Wild Wes and those "managers" kuno sa CAA. their utmost priority is packaging so mabenta ang talent nila. kahit pangit or maganda basta maganda sales(endorsement, etc).

actually sama mo na rin si james kasi parang sya ang "king" of the talents. so ang plan nila is to form a managing group(tipong IMG) to manage their career with priority in promoting and not on accomplishment. tipong kournikhova talent e patok na sa kanila:D
ever heard of the news when james called an upcoming HS phenom? "this is the king...." hehehehhe

    Will James Leave Miami?
    Joaquin Henson

NEW JERSEY – Miami coach Erik Spoelstra has taken quite a beating in media for failing to make the necessary adjustments in the NBA Finals against Dallas and now, there’s talk he may be on the way out.

Spoelstra just couldn’t get his troops to focus on what had to be done in avoiding one fourth quarter collapse after another in blowing a 2-1 series lead and losing the last three games in the title playoffs.

It’s been repeatedly pointed out that Spoelstra’s inability to tactically break the zone defense led to Miami’s demise. Dallas coach Rick Carlisle used variations of the match-up zone to confound Spoelstra and his charges. What the 2-3 and 1-3-1 zones did was to shut the door on Miami’s penetrators, causing offensive fouls and forcing the Heat to take more outside shots than usual. That’s why down the stretch in every fourth quarter collapse, LeBron James panicked because he didn’t know what to do to get a good look. He couldn’t drive because the lane was congested and couldn’t find the mark from outside consistently. As a result, he hardly went to the line in any payoff period.

Carlisle’s experience was evident in the Finals. He was more decisive than Spoelstra. Carlisle made a bold move starting Puerto Rican J. J. Barea at point guard in Game 4, sliding Kidd to off-guard and bringing DeShawn Stevenson in from the bench. Barea proved too quick for Mike Bibby to handle in the opening match-up. It took Spoelstra two games to realize he had to counter. In Game 6, Mario Chalmers checked in to start in Bibby’s place.

Spoelstra was chastised for poor timeout management, winding up with none in two Finals games that were decided in the last few seconds.

Is Spoelstra on the way out? Miami’s front office is definitely disappointed but nobody can deny that the Heat had an exceptional season nonetheless.

As for James, he showed a lack of guts under pressure. He blinked when the going got tough. Worse, he was clueless on how to execute with the game on the line. An example was when he drove the lane, found himself in no man’s land, threw up the ball, got it back, landed on his feet, stumbled and lost possession in a madcap sequence. There were two violations on the play and only one was called. But the turnover eventually led to Nowitzki making it 97-87, with 3:30 to go.

Heat president Pat Riley, who is Spoelstra’s mentor and predecessor, probably won’t lay off his protégé. That would be an admission of guilt. If he wants to make a dramatic adjustment, Riley could trade a highly marketable player for an impact center like a Dwight Howard. Orlando will likely consider it only if James is in the equation. Joel Anthony lacks the qualities of a championship center even if Spoelstra admires his courage. A center who could contribute is 6-11 Samuel Dalembert – an unselfish role player who will defer to James and Wade.

James displayed an absence of class in mocking Nowitzki before Game 5, poking fun at the German for coughing and claiming it was all an act to gain sympathy from fans. In fairness, Nowitzki had the sniffles and played through the Finals in adversity. James should learn not to make fun of the opposition because as the Finals turned out, Nowitzki had the last laugh.
