miss cathy ano ba address mo and tel no. lapit lang ako sa iyo siguro sa villamor air base ako ngayon, baka makatulong lang kahit PM mo na lang.
I got my results na. It's within normal range but it's going down.
Normal Range is 140-400. My last platelet count was 390, today it's 280. My Tita is insisting on taking me to the hospital tonight but then she just recovered from being sick din so I am afraid that my cousins will get mad because I might get my Tita sick again. My Lola's BP also shot up when she found out that I am sick so as much as I can I keep my sickness to myself.
Any doctors here?
I'm scared![]()
repeat mo platelet count tomorrow, if with in normal level safe ka pa but be sure to monitor it daily if not twice a day kung hindi naman bumabagsak then your ok. drink plenty of fluids, bawal ang mefenamic or ibuprofen or any pain (NSAIDS) meds.. consult a doctor to be safe...
Yes... it is true that the main goal of treatment is hydration... why? Because Dengue is caused by a virus.
The main rule: any disease caused by a virus need not be treated by any kind of anti-biotics... SUPPORTIVE THERAPY is the key, thus hydration really helps in Dengue.
Now others might say... "Eh bakit ang AIDS (caused by a virus, HIV) patient nag te-take ng antibiotics". It is because of the complications that they need to take antibiotics.
Hydration is needed to aleviate the fever and another complication... bleeding, due to decreased platelets.
Hope this helps.

Inom lang ng maraming tubig and refrain from colored food. Oks na yan together with paracetamol. Pag sa hospital, dextrose lang and lots of water ang ibibigay.
Also watch closely the color of your stool Cathy. You might not have any external bleeding but if the color of your stool becomes black, then you might have bleeding inside your stomach or along your Gastro Intestinal Tract.
Many years ago I was confined at the hospital for a case of Dengue. That was about a week of boredom. No wifi internet then yet.
All I had to look forward to was the blood samples taken daily then later twice then later every few hours as my platelet count dropped below critical.
I was given two units of blood platelets then over the next two days to keep my platelet count high enough.
The only relief from boredom I had was the nausea/dizziness I would suffer everytime I tried to either sit up in bed or stand up and try walking to the CR.
Once the worst was over, I was more than glad to be discharged and go home. But I was still suffering from nausea/dizziness for the next couple days or so. I still could barely look at the computer monitor or TV but I discovered I could minimize the dizziness by close one eye so that helped with the boredom of the next few days until I was well enough.

The worst part of Dengue is having to need blood transfusion, dun magkakaalaman kung sino talaga tunay mong kaibigan![]()
