Nagtatanong lang po...planning to go home by the end of the year to visit and probably play a round of golf.
    Thanks y'all!

I play at Fort Bonifacio sa Army Golf and sa driving range is about Php180/hour. Di lang ako sure sa actual cost kse discounted ako dun (my best friend's dad is a retired col.! hehehe).

Di ko pa kasi nasubukang mag travel with the golf equip. Di ko dinala last time na umuwi ako, 3 years ago. Nung high school ako (which is a long time ago) diyan ako natutong mag hit ng 5 iron.

Tawag ka sa airline and ask to confirm kung kasama sa baggage allowance mo yung golf set. Pag dating mo dito, palo tayo! hehehe!

Mukang ok daw dun according to some but i'm not sure. My dad's Korean friend prefers to play sa Eastridge sa Taytay, Rizal since it's closer than Tagaytay; when he's in town.

    bro. golfer here.
i think you are talking about the driving range sa las pinas. eto yung sa may mcdonalds.

if you are talking about that place:

    1. walang green fee dun. wala rin bayad sa caddy. driving range lang yun.
    2. may club rentals dun sa driving range na yun.
    3. per bucket is 45 pesos + 10 pesos tee girl fee for every bucket ng ball. i bucket contains 30 balls.

meron din silang putting green dun, which you can avail of every 3 buckets of balls for 30 pesos. meron ding bunker area.

if you are going to try to play sa fairway, the nearest, easiest and cheapest public course is the kagitingan golf sa loob ng font boni. i think the green fee here is 180 for 9 holes + 150 caddy fee. may club rentals din dun.

of course, there is the most challenging intramuros golf course. medyo tagal na rin akong di nakakalaro dito. pero the price i think is double the price of kagitigan.

    hth.

i agree. most airlines allow you to carry your own set for a minimal carriage fee.
i remember last year when i went to shanghai, i bought my own clubs via PAL for free, dahil Gold Member ako ng Mabuhay Miles. ang problem lang talaga dito, make sure your bag/club is well packed, dahil baka ma bengkong yung mga shaft. tsaka of course, if you have lots of luggage with you, medyo mabigat na kung may separate golf bag ka pa.

southwoods is great specially yung langer course. pero mahal talaga. sa highlands naman, dapat may kasama kang member (same as alabang country club).

i would really suggest for you to play dun sa mga courses na nabanggit ko (kagitingan for beginners/midlevel skills) and intramuros for a more challenging course. andyan din ang wack-wack golf sa may mandaluyong (which is really, i think an average course) or the riviera golf (pero kailangan din na may kasama kang member).

oh yes....i am an 8-handicapper. home course is canlubang and alabang.... (although company paid yung sa alabang...)

Thanks for the suggestions. weekend golfer lang ako sa chicago area. Still in the 90's.

one tip to the "serious" golfers out there...
try to make yourself fit for the sport. fit means physically and mentally. in being physically fit, you avoid having injuries, and you will notice that "sisiw" maglakad ng 18 holes.

my experience is that, before i hit the gym, had frequent back pains and there is a struggle for me to finish the normal 18 holes. ayun, dahil sama ng condition ng katawan, my score is always at the 100-110 level. (hehehehe).

now because i regularly work out, i noticed that i can play 36 holes (18 sa umaga and 18 sa hapon). lunch lang ang pahinga.... hehehe. nawala din yung mga backpains and i can drive the ball longer, resulting in better scores.

on the mental aspect of the game, just enjoy...enjoy...enjoy... hwag ma pressure to score low. darating din yan if you take that off your mind. and you will notice that if you are relaxed, mas maganda ang tama ng club sa bola...mas solid....

on the technical side of the game.... its not the length....its the course management.... learn where to place the ball from the tee. ang important parati is the 2nd shot for Par 4 holes and the 3rd shot for Par 5 holes kasi andyan ang approach shots eh. and try to improve putting. if you will do this, you will notice that you don't need your sand wedge. hehehehehe.

    laro tayo minsan....
