theveed: all right, subukan ko this Sunday, sana wag umulan. hihihi.

dehadista: that sucks. tama si theveed, sabihin mo i-shoulder na lang nila cost ng detailing, you specifically told them not to wash but they still washed it. haay buhay

dehadista, sorry to hear about your mishap. I hope maayos mo yung ride mo and ma-reimburse ka sa mga gagastusin mo.

I’ve read this thread mula pa sa simula and I must say ang dami ko talagang natututunan. Saludo ako sa inyo mga detailing gurus theveed, dehadista, ILD for the knowledge that you have and for taking time and effort to impart this to newbies. Newbie din po ako sa auto detailing. Having read this very loooooong yet truly interesting and educational thread, ive grown to be enthusiastic and eager as well to take on this hobby.

Nasubaybayan ko parang telenobela ang istorya ni patopig in his quest for that elusive perfect shine. From an enthusiastic newbie to a full pledged detailer (ganda ng work mo on your mz3! di ba ikaw si redmz3 sa teamrage?), saludo din ako sa pre! Nakita ko din yung works of art nina cardo and ts1n1ta….bow ako sa mirror shine ng mga rides nyo! Kakainggit!

Salamat sa reviews and comments nyo on the numerous detailing products and equipment, ive made a short list of what I believe I would need and already began buying para masimulan ko this weekend yung pag 3 step detail ko sa aking precious 2 month old white mz3.

    Stuff I already have:
Polyglaze wash n wax – dapat sana auto wash na lang pala, kaso nagamit ko na ever since I bought the car
Autogard scratch remover – comparatively mura kasi. product description says excellent as a pre-wax cleaner
    Mothers cleaner wax
3M IHG sachet – to fill-in those light scratches (meron na kasing konti akong nakikita eh)
3M SCLW sachet – to bring out that shine in lieu of depth (which white cars cannot attain naman di ba)
EO wet wipe n shine – value for money detailer
    Microtex chamois
    Microtex suede
    Microtex plush
    eurow microfiber towels

detailing gurus, I would truly appreciate your comments on the stuff I have and plan to buy. My questions at the moment:
    1. Are these sufficient for detailing my ride for the first time? Daily ko dinadrive yung mz3 papuntang office. Please also consider na rainy season tayo ngayon. Im after quality (pero hindi pang competition naman) and durability at bang for the buck prices.
    2. do i clay kapag basa ng water mixed with shampoo yung car (using it as the lubricant) or do i clay after i hose off?
    3. after i clay, do i dry the car already with a chamois or do i still have to hose off then dry with a chamois?
    4. after i clay and dry the car, do i still need to apply mothers cleaner wax?
    5. the cleaner wax is wipe on wipe off, right? how about the 3m ihg?
    6. is the microtex suede best used for applying the cleaner wax or for the 3m ihg? what can i use for the other?
    7. how many layers of the 3m sclw do i apply para durable sya (dahil rainy season nga)?
    8. what can i use to apply the wax?
    9. Would the autogard scratch remover serve any purpose since meron na akong mothers step 1, or do I throw it away na lang kasi hindi maganda yung product?
    11. sulit ba talaga kumuha ng isang rop? kp600 at cost-u-less is p3k. ok na ba price nito? any other rop recommendations within that price range?
Do I use it on all 3 steps?
    13. lastly (whew), a good maintenance plan please on a white car

pasensya na po talaga sa dami ng questions. better safe than sorry di ba....first time eh (hehe). de-numero na mga tanong ko para madali po ninyong masagutan. I wish to attach some pics of my ride para appreciate niyo better yung kanyang present condition, kaso di ko alam pano. Help on this please. Sana matulungan ninyo ako sa aking panibagong hobby which I am really enthusiastic about already! Sa inyong lahat na magiging detailing profs ko fr now on, maraming salamt po in advance!!!

Rinse the car first before claying, dirt and grim is still on the surface...

    3. after i clay, do i dry the car already with a chamois or do i still have to hose off then dry with a chamois?
You can clay it while its still wet if you want to save time.

You can mix up a car shampoo + distilled water and use it as your QD... however, you should rinse and dry your car again if you go this route.

If you use a QD (Meguiars / Mothers / Etc) then there is no need to rinse the car again.

    4. after i clay and dry the car, do i still need to apply mothers cleaner wax?
If your paint needs some "cleaning" then go ahead, apply the cleaner wax. It all really depends on the condition of your paint...

    5. the cleaner wax is wipe on wipe off, right? how about the 3m ihg?
Yes. Don't let it sit, it would be a pain to remove. Am not sure about the IHG, havn't tried it yet.

Eto muna for now... back to work

Since White ang Color, what would be ideal is to go for a lot of shine since it’s quite (but possible) difficult to produce depth with this color. Since you mentioned “Rainy Season”, I think a sealant is in order if you really want to protect that with something that’s durable.

2.do i clay kapag basa ng water mixed with shampoo yung car (using it as the lubricant) or do i clay after i hose off?
Trying hosing off first to remove the initial dirt / shampoo on the surface so it wouldn’t chew much from your clay. Saying naman yung clay. So yung order mo is: car wash, rinse, clay, chamois (drying)

    3. after i clay, do i dry the car already with a chamois or do i still have to hose off then dry with a chamois?
Some people wash again after claying but that depends kung gaano ka-OC ka. Ingat nga lang sa smearing when you clay. Personally, I don’t. I proceed directly to cleaning the paint.

4.after i clay and dry the car, do i still need to apply mothers cleaner wax?
YES. Claying strips wax.. you definitely have to apply a coat of your fave LSP.

    5. the cleaner wax is wipe on wipe off, right? how about the 3m ihg?
Follow the instructions at the back. Pero, with regards to IHG, some prefer WIWO.. Some let it haze for a bit. Just don’t apply it thick.. Try putting on a very THIN layer. It’s very difficult to remove. Try experimenting with what best suits you.

    6. is the microtex suede best used for applying the cleaner wax or for the 3m ihg? what can i use for the other?
Try using Foam Applicator Pads.. mas madaling mag-work in ng products with these.. if you think that these will introduce marring, then wrap it with your MF. you can also use a machine for really even coverage.. better results pa.

    7. how many layers of the 3m sclw do i apply para durable sya (dahil rainy season nga)?
One coat is good. 2 coats ensures even coverage.. hmmm I think it would be better if you reapply your wax on a frequent basis (yung tipong every 2 weeks or so…) instead of One Big Whopper.

BTW, if you plan to layer, try to observe the right curing times for waxes and sealants. also, you can’t layer cleaner waxes.

    8. what can i use to apply the wax?
    See Answer on #6..
    9. Would the autogard scratch remover serve any purpose since meron na akong mothers step 1, or do I throw it away na lang kasi hindi maganda yung product?
Scratch Removers have its place in every detailer’s arsenal because they are mainly used for spot removals and not for the entire car..

Autoglym.. meron din 3M.. try to rewax afterwards.

    11. sulit ba talaga kumuha ng isang rop? kp600 at cost-u-less is p3k. ok na ba price nito? any other rop recommendations within that price range?
Sulit ang ROP. Less tiring because the machine does all of the work. Get something with variable speed so you can learn and do surface corrections as well in the future.. the way I see it, since you have the machine, might as well learn how to maximize it.. I’d recommend Bosch or DeWalt 443 (maingay ‘to…)

BTW, if you’re getting a ROP, you’d also have to invest in good foam polishing and finishing pads.. dagdag gastos na naman.. hehehe

Do I use it on all 3 steps?
Ganito: you can use it to wax and polish your car. you’d get faster and better results than ones than by hand… you can also do corrections as well.

Madami bro.. depends on your needs talaga naman eh.

    13. lastly (whew), a good maintenance plan please on a white car
I think there’s a thread for this already..

[quote]

    Yes, PM Blackmagic for pricing.

    1. Are these sufficient for detailing my ride for the first time? Daily ko dinadrive yung mz3 papuntang office. Please also consider na rainy season tayo ngayon. Im after quality (pero hindi pang competition naman) and durability at bang for the buck prices.
    - Scrap the shampoo, it'll do you no good, just use that for tires and other misc areas.
    - Scrap the Autogard stuff, none of their stuff are worth using. Get 3M Scratch Remover or other brands.
    - Get tar remover or kerosene whatever suits your needs.
    - Buy some brushes (kahit yung pang scrub ng CR ok lang) for your tirewells, incredible amount of dirt gets stuck during the rainy season
    - No glass cleaner???

    2. do i clay kapag basa ng water mixed with shampoo yung car (using it as the lubricant) or do i clay after i hose off?
Better to clay after you've rinsed. Also, if you're planning to wash+clay, dont wash the whole car in one go, wash from top to bottom, one panel at a time so you can dry the just-clayed area before washing the next panels, otherwise, waterspots galore.

    3. after i clay, do i dry the car already with a chamois or do i still have to hose off then dry with a chamois?
    Always rinse.

    4. after i clay and dry the car, do i still need to apply mothers cleaner wax?
Paint cleaners cleans the paint itself, clay just picks up dirt on top. Check your surface if cleaning is necesary.

    5. the cleaner wax is wipe on wipe off, right? how about the 3m ihg?
Totally different products. I believe we have sufficient IHG application tips in this board, if not, check PAD. Cleaner wax, yes, as long as you've waited for the product to dry sufficiently.

    Just follow bottle instructions.

    6. is the microtex suede best used for applying the cleaner wax or for the 3m ihg? what can i use for the other?
    Yes on both accounts.

    7. how many layers of the 3m sclw do i apply para durable sya (dahil rainy season nga)?
You can't layer a wax technically, in addition, layering affects looks only and not durability, applying 100 coats wont make much difference to 1 coat.

    8. what can i use to apply the wax?
Same as #6, if you have a foam applicator, the better. Get those meg applicators in True Value.

    9. Would the autogard scratch remover serve any purpose since meron na akong mothers step 1, or do I throw it away na lang kasi hindi maganda yung product?
It's totally different. A SR is a medium polish, some are abrasive, others are not. Step 1 products are paint cleaners.

See my first reply. In addition, you're supposed to remove tar before a wash.

    11. sulit ba talaga kumuha ng isang rop? kp600 at cost-u-less is p3k.
That's the standard price, I'd pick a Bosch unit for 5K over that piece of weekend junk.

Do I use it on all 3 steps?
It's just a power tool that replaces hand movement, you can use it anywhere you need to apply, remove or scrub products.

    13. lastly (whew), a good maintenance plan please on a white car
There's a long thread about caring for white car in tsikot, please search. Basically, cleaner wax once every 2 weeks or so, maintain with wax. Wash ofter and remove tar.

I wish to attach some pics of my ride para appreciate niyo better yung kanyang present condition, kaso di ko alam pano. Help on this please.
Go to the Gallery (top part of the page) upload the pic you want. Then copy the image's URL then paste it in the board.

looking at my answer, methinks I wasn't able to answer Q#1 right..hehe

anyway, that would do for a starter set.. your collection would grow depending on what you think you ought to need in order to get that elusive shine.

you'll also get to discover what products suit you in the future..

Agree with you theveed IF Spot Corrections ..pero I think it's much more efficient if the whole car is being done by machine,

oops.. dapat pala hindi corrections hehehe. maybe cleaning / polishing in this case would be better.
