Detailing Thread [For Newbies][ARCHIVED]

It's fairly easy if you're going to do it by hand. all you need is the right stuff(and A LOT of elbow grease

). Most of what I used are available at True Value(Mothers, Eagle1 and Megs) and ACE HW. Aside from the trusty shampoo and wax you'd need a good wash mitt(or good sponge); applicator pads; Quality micro fiber cloths(Microtex available at ACE or at Bigberts) or the JML's which are cheaper. First step is clean(wash, clay and or paint cleaner), hide the swirls(polish, glaze etc), protect(wax or sealant) then maintain with a bit of QD... and a must have!!!! - The magic wand of detailing - the cali duster!!! Viola! You're good to go... Usually trial and error ang detailing. you try out some stuff until you get the combo you are looking for and stick with it. Sometimes, if you can't achieve what you want with hand application a machine comes into the picture. But take it step by step...

just finished doing weekly detail on my ride.. tried synthetics on dark..

I still prefer the look of carnauba.

ngayon, medyo tinopak ako.. naglagay nako ng 2nd layer ng Klasse SG before lunch..

medyo hopeless pakintabin yung car ko hehe, nalilinis lang yung paint.

abangan ang progress sa bigberts website... may project car section dun starting next week... :P

dave: Yan ba yung pinapintura niyo kay zinggoy? Talked to Vince during the motor show he did mention something about a project car.

What synthetic did you use?

Also detailed my daily driver yesterday, did the engine first then the exterior, ang hirap abutin yung lower part ng engine bay, I need some more tools, tapos may na dislodge pa na plastic clip sa loob di ko na makita kung saan nahulog

My body was aching at the end of the day.

ILD: Klasse SG. One layer Sat., 2nd layer Sun. before that, used #66, Speed Glaze, AIO. then did interior with EO, Medallion Leather... NXT Tech Protectant for the dash.. (too greasy talaga for me, have to buff it off for a nice matte finish)
